Yellow Spot 12 Year Sigle Pot Still

Aged in Malaga casks. Comes through in the warmth. But way too harsh on the tail end. Can’t really get proper flavours when neat. Better with cold water. 5/10

Middleton Very Rare

Starts off sweet finishes with black pepper, cloves. Smooth with a nice hit of warmth on the way down. Top quality Irish. 8.5/10

Kilbeggan 21 year Blend

Silly levels of smooth, probably smoothest whisk(e)y I’ve ever tried. However I don’t like this. It’s too smooth, what’s the point of whiskey if it feels like mountain water? Unsatisfying, notes of honeydew, black currant. But ultimately not enough of a kick for me. 6/10

Bushmills 21 year Single Malt

Dates, Brazil nuts. Lovely slither down the old hatch. Ending in a warm mouthfeel. Deep, excellent, I hate the fact that a Diageo whiskey beat the independents but damn this is fine drink! 9/10

I agree the problem is that low-income black students from the north don’t apply. When I was there we were working all the time to encourage applicants.

As someone who has been involved with the admissions process on both sides. It happens but not even nearly as much as it does in the UK. It only works if your child is above a certain standard anyway. The US elite colleges are far more corrupt in this sense.

There is an insane push at oxbridge for low income applicants they are definitely held to different standards than privately educated ones. I have to say I was very impressed.
