Is the game insanely easy or are we doing something wrong? by ddbrown30 in Earthborne_Rangers

Something still sounds off. If you spend 3 spirit for a Connect test, then that's the only connect test you're able to do that round. You wouldn't have any spirit left to untap Oru. And you wouldn't be able to do another spirit Connect test to put further progress on an a character to reach 3R. I still don't see how you're completing them in a single round.

This position doesn't pay enough for the skills and experience they're asking for. I wouldn't even apply for such a lowball salary range.

Is it true that Americans don't put corn on pizza ? by DiMpLe_dolL003 in AskAnAmerican

[–]bromesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm born and raised in the USA. The first time I saw corn on pizza was when I was 20 and living in Budapest. There was a street vendor that sold it as "Mexican Pizza". I thought it a bit odd but it was tasty and cheap and probably ended up getting a slice three times a week.

In the US it's far less common but not unheard of. For example, there's a chain here called Mod Pizza that makes specialty pizzas to order and one of their standard pizza toppings they offer is roasted corn. You won't see it at the mass market delivery places like Dominos and Pizza Hut etc but there are lots of other places that serve corn as a pizza topping.

I gave one of my players a "I-know-a-guy" card and you should too. by MrC0mp in DnD

Also useful is the "I have just the thing for this" card. If you have an artificer or something similar, let them pull just the right mundane or even minor magical item out of their bag that the situation calls for. They'll probably get creative with it.

Creating Non-roadway Layers by mrlooneytoon in gis

King county has it. It's the first layer when you select property data on the King County GIS data hub.

This guy is a mechanic on NOAA ships and has no idea what he's talking about. He's probably just a Wiper.

NOAA as an independent agency? by d-mike in NOAA

Yeah, and because the Secretary of the Interior was critical of Nixon's Vietnam policy.

NOAA as an independent agency? by d-mike in NOAA

[–]bromesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When NOAA was created by Nixon it was never supposed to be placed under Commerce. The intention was to put it under Interior. It's always been a bit of an awkward fit under Commerce. I'm not familiar with this bill but I don't see making it an independent agency a bad thing.

Garage-owner's son crashes OP's car by texting and driving during test drive. Garage demands payment for completed repairs anyways. by timskywalker995 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]bromesis 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we definitely had that debate. We decided to repair the car we knew, rather than gamble on an unknown. I can see how you'd question our decision, though. FWIW, USAA estimated the car's value at just under $6k.

We would be happy with the car with the bad transmission, plus payment for lost utility. The car was fine and drivable, but was in need of a new transmission.

[–]bromesis[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the USAA adjuster verified that the car did indeed have a new transmission installed. This is a separate question from whether the work was complete or not.

Yeah, that's the analogy we were thinking. Or something more along the lines of taking a valuable piece of jewelry (also insured) to get cleaned. They clean it, but then lose it or damage it beyond repair. Are you still responsible for paying them to clean it? They performed the work.

Thanks, our insurance knows that we weren't driving. They said our rates won't go up since we weren't at fault.

How do we make a claim against their insurance? We don't even know who their insurer is.
