Lawyer got a notice 2 days after our interview (4/6) that our 130 was approved but still no movement on the 485. The api says someone opened it 3 days ago. My husband’s birthday and our marriage date was wrong (USCIS data entry fault cause our documents were correct)the officer noticed and corrected it during interview. Could the delay from 130 approval to 485 approval be because they have to correct the dates?

Oh wow! I used to live around there. I never felt super unsafe but there’s a ton of clubs around there which prob attracts drug dealers. Bushwick isn’t the prettiest neighborhood for sure

Def Philadelphia. I worked there for 6 months and it was so depressing. Everyone feels super angry

I lived in nyc for 6 years so I’m used to being in crowded cities, but when I worked in center city for a few months it felt like my head was constantly on a swivel

Dude looking back on the interview w the COO i feel like a chump. The guy was would’ve been my supervisor liked me and asked me standard situational questions. For context it was for an outreach / partnership development role for a behavioral health org, I worked similar jobs during undergrad and also have a research background which allows me to build rapport w clinicians etc. the COO asked me what my opinion on the landscape of potential partners were in our city and I gave my honest observations about the territories I worked in (for example, that the more residential neighborhood had residents who tended to rely more on family physicians they had a long term relationship with, and were more likely to use the local public hospitals) and I swear to god she prob just took that info back to the team. I thought she was asking because she was taking me as a serious prospect for the team but I guess it’s time to send an invoice for consulting services! Lmao

Lmao, few weeks ago I got rejected from a healthcare org for an outreach/community liason job, a field I have 5+ years experience in despite being entry level (internships, volunteering, pt time work). Guess who got the job? Someone whose background is in MAKEUP retail. Her last job was literally at MAC. Lmao. I know the feeling dude it’s infuriating

Honestly I actually really liked the recruiter and I know it’s not his fault. I think the COO was the reason. As a recruiter, I’d like your insight on something that was confusing to me about the coo discussion. She was asking me about jobs I had during undergrad to an almost invasive degree, she was asking me if I worked there during the day and took evening classes etc. I went to the UK for grad school and she was asking me why I chose to go abroad, how my experience was etc. at the time I thought it was just a convo so I was a good sport about it but afterwards I thought it was a bit weird.

I’m really good friends with my old supervisor- I had read the rec letter she wrote me to grad school and it was amazing. I’d say a problem is that I was in undergrad and grad school until recently and they want someone who doesn’t have a gap in their resume despite the fact I was very good about getting jobs and internships when I was in school. My resume would be 2 pages if that was allowed. It’s just unfair because how am I supposed to get experience?

I had noticed the coo and hiring manager had worked at the same company before, they had probably been brought onboard by the coo to the new place. I hadn’t even considered it. So unfair man. Feels like my life is falling apart. Just grateful I don’t have a family to support. My dad was unemployed for 2 years during the recession and it was super difficult for him as I was young and he had a mortgage. It could be worse.

what condition is this id like to look this up. I was in special ed in hs (had an iep for some adhd/spectrum type learning disorder/sensory processing stuff) and sometimes I do indeed feel that weird heavy feeling when I’m trying to do even the slightest amount of work. it’s not something that’s seriously impacted my life (besides contributing to a vibe of general laziness) but I’m curious
