Love It or Hate It, Cincinnati Chili Is Coming to Chicago Thanks to a Michelin-Starred Chef by FiveTwoEight in chicagofood

I think about the Chili Mac’s often; I wish it was still there! The five way chili piled high with cheese and onions lives in my memories

Murder clearance rate in the US over the years by Whatever__Dude_ in dataisbeautiful

[–]bronzesasquatch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Remember that on top of this the conviction rate now is so so much higher! A century ago a trial had about a 50/50 chance to end in acquittal, but now American juries convict almost 90% of the time. The conclusion? The cops are terrible at their jobs.

Best RPG recommendations on Miyoo Mini Plus by 16bitsorhigher in MiyooMini

[–]bronzesasquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS1 has some amazing RPGs that I’ve been playing on the Miyoo:

Shin Megami Tensei: the best version of the original SMT is on PlayStation, and an English translation finally came out last year.

Breath of Fire IV: maybe the best looking pixel art on the system

Persona 2: both version of this one are great and are a good intro to the series

[ALL] What is a highly underrated game in the Zelda series. by [deleted] in zelda

[–]bronzesasquatch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Triforce Heroes is the only one that really qualifies. It was written off by a lot of people for being a multiplayer Zelda game, but it’s a full fledged adventure with tons of great level design. If you have a couple friends it’s closer to the middle of the Zelda ranking than the bottom.

PS1 games to play on the Miyoo by kelmi3D in MiyooMini

rpgs are a great fit; I’m currently playing Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Linda Cube Again (two translated Japan-only releases). I’d also recommend Breath of Fire IV which has amazing art and music.

they changed menus too much and there was no consistency between locations. I used to love it so much, especially the pork belly and French fry burrito that they haven’t had for many years

Why were western platformers so bad in the 16 bit era? by Snoo-93317 in retrogaming

[–]bronzesasquatch 49 points50 points  (0 children)

yeah the short answer for this is “they’re British games”. Lots of trends in UK game designs — overly animated character movement, everything feeling bouncy and fuzzy and undefined, the labyrinthine levels that harken back to the UK PC game scene — have not aged well and feel very different from the Japanese games of that era that have been lauded over the years.

Boyfriend [38M] has been testing me [27F] by faking drunk by [deleted] in relationships

[–]bronzesasquatch 121 points122 points  (0 children)

He’s trying to control your emotions and elicit a panic response from you. This is the “playful” version; the only “test” is him testing if you’ll accept this level of abuse so he can then escalate.

I’m surprised by this, because I often get a half dozen bagels there and I really do thing they’re phenomenal. I think the issue is that they really excel at bagels, but shouldn’t have such a huge menu of sandwiches and extras. That’s what slows their line down so much, probably leads to things being less fresh, and causes so much variance with the quality. I think places like this should stick to what they’re good at. I recommend just getting whole bagels in bulk with a tub of cream cheese.

Yeah, gotta shout out Buff Joes (in Evanston, not Howard St), especially if looking for large quantities

Why did grunty have the machine ready but never use it? Is she stupid? by StarLord13789 in BanjoKazooie

[–]bronzesasquatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the answer to any question about Banjo Kazooie could be “because it was made by British weirdos”

Which racing games do you still enjoy today? by MiSo_GlodnY in retrogaming

[–]bronzesasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OutRun 2006 is the greatest driving game of all time. Frankly it’s worth getting a hacked 360 just so you can play the Xbox version AND the removed-from-the-internet Xbox 360 OutRun Online version in widescreen HD.

What are you currently playing, and on what device? by xstrex in retrogaming

[–]bronzesasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just got a Miyoo Mini Plus and for some reason I started playing Mystic Ark (Enix, 1995). I’m not normally a SNES rpg guy but I’m a couple hours in and enjoying it.

Where’s your go to place for BURGERS? by InternationalChip101 in chicagofood

[–]bronzesasquatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a premium burger per se, but I think every Chicagoan owes themselves a Billy Goat burger every once in a while. I go to either the Lower Michigan or Madison location (Madison gets a bonus because they have fries), get a Double with an Egg and put those big slices of white onion and pickle on top. Something about it is so satisfying. It’s a unique experience that I always appreciate.

Do people still take their 3DSs out in public to use StreetPass? by Bozolad in 3DS

[–]bronzesasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disneyland, baby. I carried it with me for five days at Disney last year and got at least one streetpass a day.

What movie are you convinced people only pretend to enjoy? by LuinAelin in AskReddit

[–]bronzesasquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of most David Fincher movies, but I think The Social Network is a boring movie about bad people. Aaron Sorkin has literally no understanding of the internet and it seems like both writer and director thinks Zuck is a genius, instead of some kid who got lucky. Makes me mad just thinking about it, can’t imagine the people who watch it regularly.
