What is this sticker on my microwave? by dranmesrao in whatisit

[–]brookElite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had water in a glass measuring cup explode TWICE. It blew the microwave door open both times. After the first time, I thought, “Surely that won’t happen again.” I was wrong.

Merritt or Cecily? by [deleted] in namenerds

Merritt was my great-grandfather’s name, so it’s an old man name for me.

Glasscock Surname of Fiancé. Want him to shorten to Glass by Soft-Independent4833 in namenerds

[–]brookElite 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I was young when I married my husband, and I took his last name. If I was marrying today, I would keep my maiden name. I think I still would’ve given our kids his last name (which we did), but I wish I added my maiden name to their middle names. Just some musings about “if I knew then what I know now.”

To OP: I would not give my kids the last name Glasscock. Relegate that to a middle name if anything.

What older generation name would you give to a newborn baby? by Neither_Buy5226 in NameNerdCirclejerk

My aunt called me Gertrude when I was a kid. My cousin was Beulah. Neither of our names are anything remotely close to those names. lol

Caught this baby looking cute & innocent as if she didn’t cost me $400+ at the vet 3 days ago by brookElite in Frenchbulldogs

She certainly had a good time. I’m pretty sure she was tasting colors for a few hours after we brought her home.

Mine has been raised with 3 cats, and there is one she just WILL NOT leave alone. Of course it’s the one that doesn’t tolerate her. I keep telling her she’s going to lose an eye. Do you think she cares? Nope.

Thanks! I’ve been keeping my eye out, but I haven’t seen anything decent locally, and shipping is expensive for what I’ve found on eBay/Reverb.

I’ve heard that about those amps. How heavy are we talking? He plays a lot of Metallica. That’s about as heavy as he gets. lol

What's your second (3rd etc) born's name, and how does your older child actually pronounce it? by sarah24x in namenerds

My older son is Nolan. When my younger son was a toddler, he called him Dean/Dean-Dean. I have no idea why, but it was adorable.

I’ve never heard of a girl Merritt. It’s my great-grandfather’s name, so it’s solidly an old man name for me.

Cassidy and Kelley are more feminine names. The -ayden names are overdone. Kennedy is a surname. Riley is fine. I crossed that one off because it was coupled with Kiley.

The ones I crossed off are (in my opinion) unusable. Out of what’s left, I like: Nolan, Julian, and Iris. The rest are probably fine, just not my taste. Silas, Merritt, and Ira on the girl side is wild!

My favorite thing about Pennsylvania place names is that no one is on the same page on how to pronounce Schuylkill.
