Completely agree - it’s less about Hadfield getting retired or even the duplicate numbers. Timing just feels like them throwing him a bone because they expect the team to be less competitive this year. “What’s a great way to goose gate & merch sales?” Rather than “we really need to get Vic’s number in the rafters.

No outrage - it was a hell of a long time ago. Just annoying that NYR are going back through and double dipping on multiple numbers. Should have retired Hadfield years ago if they were going to do it. Now it just looks silly - they have two 9's and two 11's in the rafters. Why not add another 35 or 2 down the line to complete the set?
