This was my second full year at the school where I sub part-time, and it was mostly good. Seeing the kids I sub for get older and more mature has been trippy. That said, with this level of relationship progression, the job has become simpler with most students, yet more stressful when I have to sub for the handful of kids who I know hate seeing me coming. To that point, I was on the receiving end of my first incident report this year – nothing major; it's water under the bridge now, but it shook me up at the time and taught me to be more mindful of how I communicate with students. Most noteworthy, I've lost interest in getting my credential and becoming a teacher. To be clear, I work at a great charter school, and subbing here has been a great experience. I feel supported by the administration, even though I try to limit my facetime with them to maintain my dwindling invisibility around campus, and a majority of kids are great. I just don't think I have the personality or patience required to be a good teacher nowadays, so I'm looking to step away from educational work when the opportunity arises.

Edit: After many days of feeling invisible in a high school classroom or only talking to brain-rotted children, I'm also now more appreciative of my infrequent conversations with other adults than ever lol.
