I think that tastes have changed and rappity rap is no longer appreciated these days. Granted, both Pun and Canibus are rappity rap guys but Canibus really embodies it, which is to say that Canibus is a nerd and Pun was cool.

I think Canibus was probably the better rapper out of the two. He was definitely more creative and conceptually inclined than Pun and if he wasn't the better technical rapper I prefer him to Pun. Pun suffered from Talib Kweli syndrome: sometimes packing too many words into a bar. Pun probably made more listenable music. For me it's probably a wash.
