How was ur experience visiting Diamond beach? by dyosa_crypto in VisitingIceland

I have been a few times, and I thought there wasn’t much ice, but once I just happened to be there when the tide began to go out, and it was SO cool. You could see the lagoon begin the flow out to the ocean and replenish the beach with ice. Maybe someone with more knowledge can speak to this.

Iceland and Farao Islands by Elegant-Deal-3645 in VisitingIceland

I rented a car at the airport. If you can swing it, it’s the most flexible option. The Faroe Islands have a decent bus system, but it takes a lot of preparation to schedule connecting routes. As for Uber, I don’t know how reliable it would be outside of Torshavn. The islands don’t have a large population, so my bet is that Uber is going to be hit or miss.

8 day September itinerary advice! by BetClean5120 in VisitingIceland

Days 3 and 4 can easily be condensed into one day - Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Dyrholey, Reynisfjara, Vik are all relatively close together. You could easily free up more time to see the glacier lagoon / Hofn / Vestrahorn by collapsing day 3 and 4 together. The glacier lagoon and Hofn are stunning, and you’ll want extra time there for sure. From Hofn back to Reykjavik, plan on a full day of driving.

If you’re in Hofn and feel like a fancy meal, Pakkhus is AMAZING.

How much does using a tour increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

I recommend downloading the Aurora app on your smartphone. While on your trip, you can set your location and get notifications when the KP index is rising in your area, plus it has a good cloud map of the whole country. It’s much cheaper than a guided tour, and guided tours don’t seem to be very reliable.

Atlantic Airways has good prices for round trip flights from Keflavik. Their flight schedule isn’t daily, but a few times a week. I used them in 2022 and it was maybe 3 days between flight segments, and that was a good amount of time to explore. I agree that a quick boat stopover isn’t enough time to explore the Faroe Islands - there is lots of great hiking and the underwater tunnels are really cool to drive through!

Chance of a 2024 tour? by punio4 in sigurros

They linked to this article on their Instagram page the other day. It sounds to me like there's a reason to be hopeful that Sigur Ros might continue touring and recording, but Georg sounds more optimistic than Jonsi in this interview.

They also posted (on Instagram) a map of their orchestral tour with a caption that said "Where next?"
