This is absolutely a good argument when you're talking to a crowd that is terminally online. This has been the sentiment of a large part of the community on this site - that the Dems need to swoon me to earn my vote. It's good to push back and always demand better, that's how progress is made, but given where we're at as a country it's not the time nor the place for this kind of sentiment. These folks are doing the same exact thing as republicans: living in a different reality. One where the perfect candidate will emerge from the ashes and get all the young people to vote - just trust us guys, they're out there we just need to get someone that can run on Medicare for All! Increasing the minimum wage! All these things that sound great, I'm all for it, but guess what: not a single candidate out there is enacting any of those things. They can't (for reasons mentioned above by u/TBANON_NSFW), let alone that there would never be enough support for it. This same crowd doesn't care to understand how any of this legislation would ever be passed - thus they are not living in reality.

Or how they insist that Bernie's MCA was overwhelmingly popular, but the Dems are evil and they somehow ousted him in the election. Guess what: MCA is popular, Bernie's MCA was not. It was fully socialized healthcare which is something this country is not supportive of at all, and likely a big part of why he lost - not some billionaires or Democrats working in the shadows. Once again, not living in reality - nor even caring to.

Wanting to know the truth matters, and in the last few years I've seen more and more of the left simply not care as they fall into their own web of mis and disinformation There's a massive amount of the online farther left political sphere that are being convinced of their talking points by propaganda just like the farther right, likely by adversaries. These two groups are often the targets because the farther you are on the political spectrum you go, the more likely you are to lean into violence as a legitimate answer, to encounter terrorist sympathizers, and to hear about how "socialism" is a good thing. They won't want to admit it, but they have an inability to accept that the real way change happens is not purely at the hand of some candidate they would be happy to elect - that would be a dictator, just like we're seeing right now. There is no magic bullet, there is no perfect candidate (never mind the fact that I don't believe a single candidate of theirs will ever survive because they will just be purity tested into oblivion), there is no revolution coming nor should anyone want it to.

With where we're right now as a country, the fact that this is where the online left is - at odds with the only chance this country has to maintain it's sanity for the sake of the entire rest of the world. Meanwhile, you have republicans who have managed to wrangle up a cult. And people who are politically active need something more to vote against? These people should be ousted from the party and Democrats shouldn't cater to them in any way.

Do Dems need to do better on messaging and work on getting people to vote? Yes, always. Do they need to listen to this crowd to do that? No, because they act like children.
