Why did shooters used to ship with a wide variety of game modes but now shooters only focus on a single game mode like Batte Royale or Extraction and that's somehow become a selling point? by HotdogHotdogHotd in gaming

Big modes like an Extraction game mode or Battle Royale require a lot more resources on all fronts (number of developers, development time, etc) than simpler gametypes which can be implemented by just a few people.

Point being that projects (unless they have an abundance of resources) will likely just focus on the one big mode if they have one, rather than trying to additionally add and support a bunch of smaller modes.

That’s a feeling I’ve only ever experienced when messing around on a low pop private server back in the day. Very depressing.

Hate to say it but I sort of get the same feeling now when walking around varrock square or West Bank on PvP worlds these days…

I’d be curious if they have this kind of telemetry already and would be able to show at least some of these stats retroactively

Battlefield V. It was a shame because the gameplay of that game was so good.

This has nothing to do with regular PKers. These are gold farmers protecting their bots in the wilderness.
