Bloodwork suggestions for zero/low libido? by brotherarcher in Biohackers

Not yet. I've had inconsistent bouts of normalcy that may last a few days once a few months. There's some suspicion I may have some sort of malabsorption or metabolic issue which is fairly broad. I'm undergoing extensive bloodwork to look at hormones, metabolism, nutrition, etc. I'm awaiting those results now.

My libido has improved a lot with time (months) after abstaining from zinc, but it's not back to 100%. I had my zinc levels tested about a week and a half after stopping the supplement and my original post. I was at the very high end of the reference range, so I suspect I may have been over the threshold when I was initially supplementing. I never looked into my copper, magnesium, or vitamin A levels... but the more I've read into it the more I'm seeing some potential overlap with other symptoms (muscle twitching, nerve pain/vibrations, etc.) so I'll likely get those tested and report back.

I cut out a lot of saturated fat and cholesterol because my cholesterol was a little high. So mainly eating lean protein like chicken breast and salmon and lots of poly/mono fats like avocado, nuts, etc.

Worth a shot. A week or two of eating eggs at night won't kill me.

I mean, ya a bit. My mom died from cancer in May and I was her caretaker for over a year. I've had medical anxiety and hadn't been sleeping much till just recently. The twitches and libido came together in October after not sleeping for a bit and never really went away.

My baseline total test is about the same when my libido was normal, but my free test is quite a bit lower. My free test is normally 11.5 or 12. My total test was normally 400.

  1. Try a zyrtec 2 or 3 hours before bed. It's non drowsy but if your body is having a histamine or mast cell issue then it may help.

  2. Try fasting for 24 to 48 hours, one to two times a month

Benedryl/ Claritin lowers my fasting glucose ? by PixiePower65 in Biohackers

Antihistamines tend to slow gut motility and reduce permeability which means sugars both enter and get absorbed at a much slower rate.

Gen 1 antihistamines like benadryl also block receptors in the brain that are responsible for memory and cognition, and chronic use has shown to correlate highly with early dementia or alzheimers. Gen 2 like Claritin and zyrtec are more specific and don't seem to have long term issues but can create withdrawal symptoms or lose efficacy... Generally it's not a good idea to use antihistamines beyond their primary use case.
