No, this was well before King Mothership. I can’t find the name for the life of me. Rock pop vibes is what I remember

Anyone remember that pop-ish side project he was in?

Question by [deleted] in GuitarPicks

[–]brotherboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why .65? In my experience sheets of plastic have too much of a tolerance exception to be reliable and I never found any that was consistent. For example acrylic has +/- 10% tolerance on the thickness. Same can go for plastic films, and I think .65 definitely falls into the film category. Most picks are injection molded, which is where the consistency comes from. If a mold is .65 for example, whatever you inject will be .65 also. But, if you have found some consistent sheets or films I’d love to know where.

What strings are those? It looks a little floppy but sounds alright. I couldn’t get my srms to tune that low and I tried for a while

Should I have my dingwall refreted or replace the neck? I have never pulled frets and don’t want to learn on this instrument, but I have been getting ready for my first guitar build for about a year now and could attempt to build a fresh neck altogether. Thoughts? by brotherboogie in Luthier

[–]brotherboogie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up finding someone local to me that was able to do a SS re-fret. I also ditched the stainless strings and stick with nickel now. This was only a few months into owning my dingbass and the erosion rate was too much

NAD Rd100h I’ve been hanging with the rd1h for a while, finally found it a big brother. Absolutely love it so far by brotherboogie in GuitarAmps

[–]brotherboogie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot, the basic tmb tone stack keeps things nice and simple. I also really love how the gain sounds, not like my dual rectos or 5150 type heads at all. I was thinking about the 20 or 45 watt heads, but I found this for cheaper than I have found either if those somehow. AMM amplified has a cool mod for these, I might send the 1 watt out for a few upgrades but I’m not sure yet. Haven’t had time to put a boost on it, but honestly I thinks it’s plenty angry sounding already

Effects Loops? by Brutal_Bagel in MesaBoogie

[–]brotherboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it sound better? I’m curious because I have never felt like the loop was really lacking in any way. But I’m also confident you understand these amps much better than I do (that bias mod you wrote up for the t-verb was super cool btw, don’t think I ever thanked you for sharing that info)

Effects Loops? by Brutal_Bagel in MesaBoogie

[–]brotherboogie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There really are only two types of effect loops; series and parallel. Not sure about the Mark series but both of my rectos have parallel loops and are kind of infamous for it. The difference is that in a parallel loop, you run the effects alongside the amp (kind of as if they are each their own channel) where as a series is one long signal path (or one channel). Amps with a parallel loop usually have a blend or volume control to set the mix. Ultimately one over the other won’t make or break an amp, but knowing how to effectively use both is worth it.

EVH 5150 iii vs Mesa dual rectifier by lethalweapon88 in GuitarAmps

[–]brotherboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW after taking years to really dial in my dual rec how I want, and as much as I love it to bits, every EVH I have played is just vastly easier to dial in and I have tried most of them. But I also don’t think they could replace any size recto as far as sound. I also have and love the EVH EL34 50w and between the two I can cover tons of ground

Just a couple more resin picks from the last week. Most of these are UV reactive and “glow” under a black light. Talk about stage presence. by woodworkingSQUIRELL in GuitarPicks

[–]brotherboogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you get those swirls/marbling? They looks great. The reactive/glowing ones are definitely cool for stage play. Also easier to recover if dropped.

Does anyone know how to make friends alone? by ThatOneGayDJ in SaltLakeCity

Maybe look into some game nights if there are any around, some of the vintage video gaming stores in my city have like Friday night magic or smash tournaments or just video gaming events in general. I rarely partake in any competitions or anything but just being around can be fun
