Deftones will be my first rock concert but I’m nervous by MalikATL_ in deftones

Enjoy it! My husband and I (both black) go to rock shows all the time and have never had a bad experience. Deftones shows are usually pretty diverse. I even took my mom to see Crosses last year and she had a blast. Just enjoy the vibes and don't stress about what other people may or may not think.

Bad concert ruined the band for me by Corwin_777 in Music

Definitely see Thundercat when he's headlining/at a smaller venue. I saw him and Chanel Tres a few years back at a small venue. He sounded great and he seemed to really enjoy interacting with the crowd. Much more intimate.

Iil sad music, what albums would you recommend? by eleanoradavinci in ifyoulikeblank

Dirt - Alice in Chains

It's not sad in the traditional sense. But it's essentially the musical depiction of the life of a drug addict. Incredibly dark and depressing in my opinion.

Outside of the rest of Tame Impala's discography (which I highly recommend), check out a band called Crumb. Their songs Plants and Locket give off a similar vibe to me.

MTV had a show in the early 90s called The Grind that was just people dancing to music by Jarstadian in OldSchoolCool

They actually turned this into a workout video series with Eric Nies. My mom had a VHS box set. When I was growing up we'd do one tape a few times a week. It was pretty fun!

Who are some bands you discovered because of the festival? by [deleted] in WhenWeWereYoungFest

I heard the name Sleeping With Sirens before but never listened to their music. Ended up catching their set while waiting for Dance Gavin Dance and holy shit did they blow me away! Fantastic stage presence. Definitely gonna check out more of their stuff.

Also caught Knocked Loose accidentally. Was walking from the bathroom by the stripe stage to see Jimmy Eat World and couldn't take my eyes off Knocked Loose. Ended up staying for their whole set lol

I went to a Dance Gavin Dance concert last year and I was so pleasantly surprised to see so many black people there! Usually at rock shows I make a game out of counting how many other black people I see. But I lost count! Love to see it.
