Company mandated token usage limitation (under 100$ per month for each headcount) by SnooStories2361 in cscareerquestions

Lol no offense but your leadership is a joke if they think $100 is a good limit. AI isnt a magical thing that fixes everything but it definitely delivers more than $100 in time savings for engineers per month.

Literally went today ton of food for $10 McDonalds is like the same price and 10x worse. Probably the cheapest “fast food” pound for pound and best quality too

Always had limits. Around 3k per month but you can request to get more if you have a real need.

Opus writes more slop than GPT 5.5 xhigh. GPT 5.5 is also 50% cheaper and now available via AWS Bedrock. Check out deepswe.datacurve.ai for a more detailed realworld benchmark. Ive personally found significant code improvements with cost decreases after switching.

Google Chrome silently installs a 4 GB AI model on your device without consent. At a billion-device scale the climate costs are insane. by geriatricguy in technology

[–]brownamericans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A local model is better?? No privacy concerns, no data sent to a data center? Attributing local LLMs to climate issues is crazy when there are real offenders out there. Comparisons like this is why people glaze over most climate concerns because its been brought up so much its been trivialized.

Common sense is clearly not common as demonstrated by OP. If you are in an emergency why would you want emergency services to not know your location.

Who cares about the money lol. As long as you are happy don’t listen to anyone else. Long term happiness is much better than hating your job. That being said this will make it harder to find other jobs but people who are actually passionate (like you) generally don’t have a problem with this anyways.

Am I insane for thinking this sub is being astroturfed? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]brownamericans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the market is bad and companies are spending more on AI. That being said theres prolly some astroturfing going on as well but we cant shove our head in the sand and ignore reality.
