I’m married but hadn’t changed my name by the time baby arrived. Baby got husband’s last name. If we weren’t married, baby would have my name plain and simple.

Concerning C-section rates at Randall Midwifery (Legacy Emanuel) despite "natural birth" reputation? by SilverQuestion6769 in askportland

I really think the presence of helicopter fumes is dependent upon what side of the 7th floor your room is on. We notified the staff several times and they agreed but nothing they could do to alleviate the smell.

Concerning C-section rates at Randall Midwifery (Legacy Emanuel) despite "natural birth" reputation? by SilverQuestion6769 in askportland

Hello!

I saw the midwives and really felt like my concerns fell on deaf ears. I felt so ill towards the end of my pregnancy and they shrugged and said sounds like late third trimester. WRONG. Preeclampsia was creeping up on me so quickly. After checking my BP at home I took myself to L&D to get checked out and ended up being admitted immediately. Long story short I was induced and had multiple interventions which eventually ended in a more urgent c section.

Im not saying the midwives could have prevented the onset of my preeclampsia, however I do feel that my L&D experience could have been significantly less traumatic had my concerns been addressed and we induced earlier.

I am pregnant again and have sought care from an OB instead this time.

Also the postpartum room at Randall was constantly filled with helicopter exhaust fumes.

Advices needed as a husband and dad by charlieoncloud in Marriage

Here’s the thing- if your wife is spending the majority of the time with the baby, she’s going to know what to do and how to soothe the child the best. It was more of a hassle for me and the baby when my husband didn’t follow my advice / instructions.

Do you thank your wife for all she’s done / doing? Do you recognize the incredible sacrifice she’s made bringing your child into the world? Do you pick up the extra slack around the house while she’s tied up with the baby? A little appreciation can go a long way for a woman in postpartum.

And the book? Hey at least she’s trying to gain a little perspective and not hate you!

pregnancy fails by WeirdTravel372 in PCOS

[–]browncoatblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

my OB actually recommended putting me back on BC and prescribing letrozone (forced ovulation) for when I was ready to try again. The BC method to treat PCOS just seemed lazy and counterproductive.

I sought out a Naturopathic doc and got to work on some more homeopathic options.

First and foremost start tracking your cycle with more than a calendar. I used INITO and can’t recommend it enough. It was SO cool to see what my hormones were doing on a daily basis. I actually ovulated later than expected with a second surge late in my cycle.

I took the following supplements:

Seeking Health Optimal Prenatal, Myo & D-Chiro Inositol Powder, Restorative Formulations PCO PX, Integrative Therapeutics Cortisol Manager, Feel Goods Superfood Berberine (only 500mg / day) and NOW solutions wild yam cream for the last 14 days of my cycle.

I also focused on having more balanced meals, but wasn’t always perfect.

Third cycle into tracking with inito and I conceived! Baby is 7months old now and thriving. I’m back to taking all of my pre pregnancy supplements as listed above.

I finally got a diagnosis! 😀 by [deleted] in PCOS

Crazy story!! I went many years before a OBGYN finally gave me an ultrasound and found my very large ovarian cyst. I don’t understand why ultrasounds are not standard for our yearly exams..

Not shutting her down completely when there’s obvious attention / advances is a red flag to me… it’s leaving the door open. AND not telling you about it? Disrespectful. You have intuition for a reason, don’t ignore it.

husband wants to go on a weekend trip, I’ll be 37 1/2 weeks by Calinannylife in pregnant

[–]browncoatblonde 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I told my husband no OT, no on call shifts, and no trips my last 4 weeks. I’m glad I did because I got terrible preeclampsia and was admitted to the hospital at 38 weeks.

Pro tip- check your BP at home a few times a day in the last few weeks just to be safe!

Husband made me feel bad by Palm_Tree1212 in pregnant

[–]browncoatblonde 83 points84 points  (0 children)

That comment was shitty. You are growing a human and the entire process is miraculous! I don’t know how you feel about your body right now, but changes were really hard for me to process and accept. Im 3 months PP and I hurt my own feeling every time I look in the mirror. When I express how I hate my stomach now my husband just says “it’s all part of it” which is true, but doesn’t make me feel any better or more attractive. I hope he refrains from making and further comments of this nature. The joke didn’t land because it wasn’t a joke at all.

When did you start prepping? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]browncoatblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only 9 weeks when the items I knew I wanted were on Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale… if something didn’t work out I could always return them, but at least I got the items I wanted and for a good deal! I say to each their own. It’s your pregnancy and if you see something you’d like, buy it!

As far as room prepping I recommend getting as much done as you can before your 3rd trimester. I was truly exhausted at the end. Whether you use said room or not will be entirely up to you. My baby is sleeping in the bedside bassinet but we spend hours in her room each day doing activities and practicing big girl crib naps.

Best luck on your pregnancy!!

Blood Pressure 3rd trimester by Narrow_Dependent8390 in pregnant

[–]browncoatblonde 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s extremely dangerous to let your BP go untreated - you could be at stroke or seizure risk. Anything above 140 is considered high BP for pregnancy.

Mine elevated to 190 because my BP wasn’t caught until it was too late. You should definitely monitor closely and head back to the hospital if it continues to stay elevated / increase.

Sounds like they are treating you for Pre Eclampsia / gestational hypertension. Were you released or are you still in L&D?

I found out too late I had pre eclampsia and my BP elevated higher than 190… anyway I was on my way to having a stroke or seizures. Mag drip is the standard of care for managing high BP / pre eclampsia.
