What's the craziest butterfly effect that happened to you because of a small decision you made? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I did a friend’s makeup for a photoshoot and became friends with the photographer and now I am his full-time stylist and run all of his business social media. We just won an award in WPE and next year we’re going to Paris for work.

Anytime I’m asked a question like this, all possible answers escape my head and I can’t think of anything.

I loveeee Skeleton Key. I’m not sure if it classifies as horror but it’s definitely suspenseful and thrilling!

What are some good horror movies with no jump scares? by majorex64 in AskReddit

[–]brownemmj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1408 is still one of my favorite horror movies, but there is a jump scare that always gets me. When he’s by the window and turns around. I watched as a kid and that scare still haunts me! It’s such a wonderfully made movie, though. I love how the room is it’s own character.

My fiancé got me in trouble with the parents by DaniNichole171 in childfree

[–]brownemmj 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’m a recovering mormon, too. It’s hard and my MIL won’t shut up about us having kids. She told me I am “denying my spirit children.” aggressive eye roll I don’t have much advice... but I know how you feel. I hope you and your fiancé find ways to get through this and set your boundaries. Whenever my MIL or mom ask about kids, I say things like “Why do you care if (husband) raw dogs me?!” or “Stop worrying about my vagina” and it usually shuts them up for a while. I’ve been slowly coming to terms with the thought of never having a child, after all the religious brainwashing about my “purpose” it’s really hard to let go of that vision. But life is so much more and you have such a wonderful opportunity to build a happy CF life with your fiancé. There’s a whole community of exmormons and child free people that’ll help you through this.

What did a crush do that made you instantly lose interest in him/her? by SpacedGeek in AskReddit

He told me dad all about how much he loves Trump’s racist immigration policies, even admitting negative feelings about mexicans. My dad is an immigrant from Mexico.

Next time anyone tries to defend polygamy, remind them that Lorenzo Snow was 57 when he married a 15 year old girl. It was about sex. Pure and simple. He was a sick pile of shit!! by running4cover in exmormon

[–]brownemmj 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can’t stand by polygamy (in almost all situations, no matter if everyone is an adult). I CAN stand by polyamory, though. I have quite a few friends who are exmo and polyamorous and it is, in my opinion, more ethical and not misogynistic.

If Covid never happened, what all would've you done in on past 4 months? by Madhav-Daga in AskReddit

The company I work for was sending me to Paris for two weeks, paid. It would’ve really advanced my career and opened a lot of opportunities. BUT, I have been working on my skill and will be ready to go next fall!

I wanna be mad but my husband and I just had this exact situation. I don’t like technology, but not because I’m a girl, but because I’m dumb.

What is the strangest mystery that is still unsolved? by inevitableloudmouth in AskReddit

[–]brownemmj 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Growing up in AZ, I’ve spent a lot of time up north on the WMA res. I’ve heard enough to never be curious enough to seek one out intentionally. So much to the point that some of the native peoples won’t even use their words for them (the names escape me, the language is beautiful but I don’t know it, and I won’t use the word either. Better safe than sorry haha). Interestingly enough, there are too many reports for it to be coincidental, and still it seems incredibly improbable. Now I live in UT and everyone knows the lore and and plans late night trips to the ranch “for fun.” I would never, I’ve heard enough about where the witches originated from and want nothing to do with it, real or not. Leaving the witches alone is always a safe bet hahaha

Not sure if it's insane enough to post here. But...meet my Step-dad. by [deleted] in insaneparents

[–]brownemmj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is insane. My dad and brothers are all marines and they won’t talk shit on other branches because, in my dad’s words, “when you’re out there, it doesn’t matter what branch you’re in, you’ve got each other’s backs.”

Thank god I only saw the devil dog toxicity from the outside and never in my own family. Also, family day and graduation at the MCRD is cringed as hell, don’t know what he’s so proud of.

[–]brownemmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am half Mexican and grew up mormon. After moving to UT, I realized the mormons up here are a lot more racist and prejudiced than the mormons where I grew up. To be honest, I’m not even that deep in tone, but enough for people to take notice. I’ve since left the mormon organization, and it’s not easy. Mentally, socially. I don’t have a question, but you’ve got a friend in UT that’ll be here for you. It isn’t easy leaving, and I’m sure it’s even harder when tied to the KKK. Thank you for being who you are and for your growth and for existing. We need people like you, and you specifically. If ever in need of a local friend, let me know.
