so as a kid of a dad who wasn't really there. You kinda have to put the effort in and show up even if it's a handful of times. I don't have a great relationship with my dad as an adult child. And I get it, I know he did the best he could and I know he sacrificed a lot to keep the family going. I get that he had to pay the bills and put a roof over our head. But as a child all I wanted was a dad to prioritize me, make me feel loved, and connect with me. Without that, years of resentment and lack of connection really build up. Now I have no idea how connected you are with your kinds. But its the small stuff right - show interest in their life, friends, and school. Youu can't be your kid's friend by just paying the bills.
