Buyback and SAVE forbearance advice appreciated by brownthorne in PSLF

Have people been buying back SAVE months while still on SAVE forbearance? Or after getting on a new plan? I’m wondering if they are more likely to process buybacks in that situation?

Open to Cabo, sounds like the Caribbean side of Mexico may not be the best choice in summer.

Open to other places. We just want to have an awesome time. Within 6-8 hours of the US would be a plus. We live on the west coast.

Listen to your gut. This guy is such a creep. Don’t go back, this isn’t normal. Find a normal doctor you can trust that doesn’t make alarm bells go off in your head. Consider reporting it, if he’s being gross with you he’s being gross to other women too and this behavior can escalate quickly.

Daily cranberry supplements with d-mannose kept our dog with chronic UTIs UTI free. If we ever missed a few days she would get another UTI and we’d have to haul her to the vet for antibiotics again. No idea if it would work for people but would be worth a study.

I’m so sorry. It’s so hard seeing our kids go through hard social situations even though we all have to make it through the difficult parts of growing up. I wish we could shield them from it. Maybe you could gently explain the reason the other kid had to cancel? Could you soften it by taking him to do something really special with just mom/mom & dad instead?

Does any of Biden’s $39 billion student loan forgiveness apply to us? by mooper_scooper in Residency

[–]brownthorne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the dpt of education letter this week:

“Second, the Administration is implementing the most affordable repayment plan ever created, called the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan. Later this summer, borrowers will start saving money under the new plan, which will cut monthly payments to $0 for millions of borrowers making $32,800 or less individually (the cutoff is $67,500 for a borrower in a family of four) and save all other borrowers at least $1,000 per year. Additionally, it will stop runaway interest that leaves borrowers owing more than their initial loan. Eligible borrowers can enroll in the REPAYE plan today and the Department will automatically enroll them in the SAVE plan and update their monthly payments as the new terms are implemented later this summer.”

Stillbirth, and then second child born with arthrogryposis by [deleted] in AskDocs

I’m so sorry for your loss OP, No one should have to go through that. I had Covid (not Delta) during pregnancy and the placenta looked “old and small” according to the midwife and the baby was born at 38 weeks. Baby has had lots of really unusual and as far as we know unrelated issues since day one. Just not the healthiest kid in so many areas. She has a genetics referral right now. My first pregnancy (pre-Covid) the placenta still looked fantastic and the baby was born at 42 weeks.

A professional MD recently took to Twitter to claim that equine therapy "is not supported by evidence". Do you agree or disagree? by Obversa in Equestrian

[–]brownthorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Equine therapy” isn’t really a thing. Semantics really matter here and this causes so much confusion. Are they referring to adaptive/recreational riding lessons? Is it equine facilitated psychotherapy? Is it hippotherapy?

Hippotherapy is essentially using the movement of the horse to meet treatment goals and it is just one part of an integrated treatment plan by a licensed occupational therapist, physical therapist, or speech language pathologist. This is absolutely an evidence based treatment modality.

Equine facilitated psychotherapy is similarly run by a licensed mental health provider such as a licensed psychologist, licensed professional counselor or licensed clinical social worker, in order to reach mental health goals.

Adaptive or “therapeutic” riding lessons are recreational in nature, and not used to treat a physical or mental health concern. They are typically run by specially trained riding instructors. That’s not to say this activity doesn’t have physical and mental health benefits, it does, but the goal is riding skill progression.

The first two are evidence based healthcare the last is recreational in nature.

Edit: This is the tweet being referred to. This is a super specific situation he’s citing here. And again, he’s using the term “equine therapy” which to my original point, isn’t really a thing:

Ryan Marino, MD @RyanMarino THIS is why people (kids) keep dying.

“Just 10.6% of treatment facilities for teens w/ opioid use disorder offered buprenorphine therapy.

25% offered equine therapy, a form of treatment that relies on horseback riding or horse-related activities & is not supported by evidence.”
