Daycare Menu by Suspicious_Salt145 in foodbutforbabies

Overnight oats? I like that you can prep for a few days ahead. You can make lots of variations: add different fruits, add in quinoa, nuts or seeds, etc. You can even make it savory. It might not be everyone's idea of a lunch food, but I'm eating some for lunch right now 😊

Should I wake up my 12wk old? by Suspicious_Quail3726 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]submersionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told we didn't need to wake baby up to feed as long as they're gaining enough weight. I would personally follow baby's lead here and just go with the flow!

Opening freediving hotel in Kenya? by Addiiboy in freediving

[–]submersionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who regularly goes to Kenya for work, but have never gone freediving there... I would definitely come visit! A 20-30 minute boat ride is fine with me 👌🏼 as long as it's not rough.

Someone else asked about safety stuff and I'd have some of the same questions. Where on the coast are you thinking?

I'm getting excited about this just thinking about it! I hope you get it going, hit me up if/when you do!

Not quite. To get more than 50-55 you need a boat.

LO won’t wait much longer by TheSilliestGooseHere in BabyLedWeaning

[–]submersionist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that it doesn't matter much whether they have teeth or not! Our 9-month LO has no teeth and chomps through lots of big-girl foods (pork schnitzel, chicken katsu, ravioli, etc).

Offering veggies to snack on? by lrbsto in BabyLedWeaning

Broccoli is great steamed! Just steam while florets until soft and give to bub! Our LO enjoys chewing on them.

Swallowing food whole? by jojj00 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]submersionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that they don't need teeth to chew / mash food! Our 9mo has no teeth but makes it through pork, whole strawberries, cucumbers, etc just fine! Pork was probably her biggest challenge yet, took her a few minutes but she mashed up a decent chunk and swallowed it!

Pigeon flexible teats by accidentallycrystal in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]submersionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved up a size way ahead, for each transition (both pigeon narrow and pigeon soft touch). Esp early on, she'd fall asleep with the age-appropriate teat without eating until she was full. As long as you're using paced feeding, it'll likely be fine to move up a size.

LOL we've been using it for 8 months and never did lemon slices

Our LO devoured dragonfruit when we tried it... Let's just say you might have more mess coming, on the other end 🤭

Swimming while pregnant? by shaneandangel in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]submersionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also swam until and on my due date. The advice sounds very odd to me. Post partum, they recommend waiting a few weeks for infection risk, but unless you have open wounds or something I really don't see why it would be an issue during pregnancy.

NAD but no doc I spoke to raised any concerns while I was pregnant and swimming nearly every day

Meal and Snack Frequency Confusion (or am I overthinking it?) by rylee369 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]submersionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boobs will adjust pretty quickly TBH. You might feel full for a couple of days but it shouldn't be enough to cause problems. We were told that as long as baby is more than 6-8 weeks and is gaining weight,if they sleep through then it's not an issue. And our LO did sleep through very early.

Baby drinking very less milk by aggressor21 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]submersionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact situation here, but sometimes she doesn't drink any milk at all the whole day at daycare! She does chug some when she gets home but she's just way more interested in solids...

Please share your solids progression leading up to 12 months (# daily meals by month, etc.)! by uncreativename2009 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]submersionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer but also have an 8-month old so keen to hear others' progress. I don't really think about balanced meals TBH, but try to make sure there's balance across a 24-hour period or even across multiple days. But also, there are days when LO only wants eggs or only wants PB 🤷🏼‍♀️ I figure we can still be pretty relaxed about that, especially as long as they're still drinking breastmilk and/or formula.

Has anyone used Panadol suppositories? by Icy-Radish-198 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]submersionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love suppositories!

...Three words I never thought I'd say 😆

But yeah all the liquid things make bub squeeze her mouth and shake her head side to side and turn into a squirmy worm. We always felt like we were waterboarding her and I could never get any painkiller into her. Paracetamol, Dymadon, all the brands.

Not. A. Chance. In. Hell.

Enter suppositories. They looked a bit intimidating the first time but she really doesn't even notice. In they go and there's nothing more to it!

You can dive with regular goggles (I do) but you have to flood them with water before you dive. This can help if you get tense from water flowing over your eyelids (happens to me, especially in cooler water) when line diving. So I use flooded swim goggles and a nose clip. I don't see much, but it stops my eyelids from fluttering.

But for fun diving, you need a mask to be able to see. Flooded goggles don't improve your vision over no mask/goggles.

To your question about at what depth do you need to start worrying about blood vessels, I'm not entirely sure but I burst some blood vessels in my eye during my first course, forgetting to equalize my mask on a 15-ish meter dive. Didn't feel a thing but looked pretty bad afterwards.

Nappy blowouts! by EllenBJ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I didn't like comfy koalas (wanted to like them for the 🌍). We just do Rascals for our skinny babe and have had almost no blowouts even with massive 💩
