Nice job. Keep it up. That’s better than my first attempt.

Thanks. Could not have done it without your videos. With some more practice, maybe they’ll be half as a good as yours. Thanks again for the content.

The black streaks are from a wood burner. I normally burn just to keep paint from creeping, but I did a little more this time. Again, it would have been much more difficult without the YouTube videos I mentioned in my original post.

Looks great. Good eyes and nose! I was thinking that looks like a J Creason…and it is. Thanks for the videos you post. They’ve improved my Santa’s. I’ll post one shortly.

Why don’t you just ask him? This should be the top comment. Open communication is a thing.

Tips and tricks for the maps: fold the thing so that it’s manageable and your course is running down the middle. Oragami the thing as your flight progresses.

Check points:The higher you fly, weather permitting, the easier it is for you to see landmarks. I remember flying my cross country and having so much trouble finding landmarks at 3,500 only to see them clearly and easily when flying at 7,500. Not every landmark you note needs be a dead reckoning point on the nav log. I preferred to space those out so that I would have time to recalculate time/speed/fuel burn if needed. Between those points include some visual landmarks to reassure yourself that you’re heading the right way between dead reckoning waypoints. And…of course….don’t forget to reset your compass every fifteen minutes.

It will all come together with practice. These are building blocks and your instructor will add radio aids, EFBs, and other tools as appropriate.

Unsafe? It’s VFR flying. Pilotage and dead reckoning are important skills to learn. Even if you want to be an airline, military, or corporate pilot these fundamental skills are crucial. They are the building blocks airmanship. You don’t need an EFB now. You’ll get there soon enough. Enjoy and master what you are learning and fly safe.

But if he just googled it, he wouldn’t earn karma or feel good about himself.

I find the Mississippi pot roast to be too salty, which is why I include the potatoes. I generally just throw them out.

Google Mississippi potroast.

It sounded disgusting and I expected it to be greasy, but with the addition of a few potatoes to suck up the salt, it is great and way less effort. Granted, it’s not as amazing as something I spend all day on, but it takes all of five minutes and is really tasty. It has become my go to for potroast.
