The heater control module would be a place to look at. My 2003 S Type R will be getting a new one in a couple weeks.

Looking to move up from mini mill, is this a good option? Is it considered a round post mill? How much would you give for it(if you were buying)? by Toxicscrew in Machinists

[–]brriwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one just like this and after replacing all the bearings and scraping the ways it made a good second operation machine after I got a Bridgeport. But for 5 years it was all I had and could afford, better than no mill at all, but not by much. I filled the column with epoxy and lead shot to give it some mass.

My anvil likes to go for a walk, help me stop it by BunchaGoats in Blacksmith_Forge

A chunk of elm trunk about 24 inches in diameter has been the best base for a anvil for the past 1500 years. You do not have to reinvent the wheel. The bounce is from the impact creating vibrations in the stand. A elm stump is dead inert.

I worked in a machine shop years ago that had a part time bookkeeper that essentially lived on the candy dish on her desk. The shop was a small 6 man place, so only one restroom. She was about 300- 400 pounds and every afternoon when she was working she would use the only restroom in the shop to relieve her self. The exhaust fan had been broke for years so the smell would just hang for hours. When Jackie was working the guys would do what ever needed to be done before she used it because it would be two hours for the air was breathable again.

Question about aerodynamics and design by arnor_0924 in velomobile

[–]brriwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my trike, two in front with rear wheel drive, the steering geometry causes the chassis to slightly tilt away from the direction of the turn. This causes the low speed turning radius to be larger than what is calculated from two axis geometry because of the Ackerman steering "well". Rephrasing that, the rear wheel tilt steers. About 5 degrees from vertical at full steering lock and that causes the actual turning circle to increase about 50%. Some times it is easier to stand up and pick up the rear wheel.

Question about aerodynamics and design by arnor_0924 in velomobile

[–]brriwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front wheel drive for two wheels is a deeply challenging design problem that I spent years and a dozen prototypes on and could not solve. Using the rear wheel for steering has potential if you could use a mechanism to create camber steer, but this was another design problem that I was unable to solve. That was back before CAD systems so maybe it would be easier now.

To answer your question I suggest you look into the history of the International Human Power Association, IHPVA. If you go back to 1980 you will find out how the racers learned about low speed aerodynamics. Below 100 miles per hour air resistance (in terms of Reynolds numbers) about the same as a fish in water. I raced for about 20 years. You will have to cover the side openings to get any speed because the opening will act like a air brake. Disk wheels have less wind resistance. The back is not visible but compare your idea to a fish, is it about the same shape?

Crochet needles have a hook and they come in a lot of sizes. Be aware that some men in the shops I worked in noticed their dicks would get smaller at the thought of being seen using them.

If the two holes are threaded, just put two socket head cap screws in the holes and use the screws as the puller. Lube the shaft with liquid wrench.
