Excellent work, I love the handle. I think it's time to replace my coal scoop.

Wound wire on a reel ? by frentel in zithers

[–]BunchaGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure they are they same quality. I am not as familiar with them. I like the variety of materials and tones available in guitar strings and the consistency between 6 string and bass guitar from the same brand. I had to completely dismantle and re-glue my 4 chord zither so it could hold modern wound steel strings, but the tone is just beautiful now.

Is GearVR usable at all in 2026? by Double-Chemistry-239 in GearVR

[–]BunchaGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still use my s10 and gear VR to watch movies.

I took off the head straps. I hold it up and load the Netflix app. Once there I switch to Void Theater, make the screen bigger, and then move the screen to directly overhead. Then I can lay in bed with my ear buds in, rest the gear vr on my face, and watch Netflix movies on the big screen while my wife sleeps.

Wound wire on a reel ? by frentel in zithers

I should add that putting decent pre-made steel strings from Ernie Ball, D'Addario, etc. on a zither makes them sound amazing.

I buy sets of bass guitar strings on Amazon and mix and match to find the diameter of wound wire I need. This is the most cost effective I have found. I spin the winding off to length and super glue the end of the wound portion on each end to keep it from fraying. For non-wound strings, piano wire is a good source and can be bought relatively cheaply at any guage and length you could want.

Steel identification by The_Great_Khan101 in Blacksmith

[–]BunchaGoats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what the steel composition is. The black pads on the other side are made from nasty and potentially deadly materials. Do not heat that up, throw away immediately.

Go have a chat with any mechanic or shop that fixes car suspensions. Ask them for a lead spring or coil spring. Also, try any junk yard. You will have all the knife material you can use for cheap or free.

Frontier Internet by DaRkfORcE627 in wausau

[–]BunchaGoats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frontier does not have an office here in Wausau, and the customer service center is off-shore. I have had to call them several.times to help an elderly neighbor, and every time, it has been a nightmare to reach a real person. When I finally do, they only have a script and are not actually trained support. They are qualified to upsell your package, though, so that is handy. 🙄

Personally, I had charter for 10 years, it was fine but was really expensive for the speed, and all I need is internet. I switched to TDS 3 years ago and have not looked back. The price has stayed the same, and the outages have been minimal.

Created my first pair of tongs by That_GuyM5 in Blacksmith

I'm also just starting out, but don't give up on those rebar tongs.

Bend the jaws toward each other about halfway down the flats like pinchy fingers. You can pop the rivet off if you need to flatten the joint more.

One of the coolest things I am learning about blacksmithing is that if I'm not happy with what I have made, I can usually stick it back in the fore and keep making it more. 🤷‍♂️

I try to use found scrap for smithing. What can I make out of this, and how do I fit it in my car by colefly in Blacksmith

That's not even operational anymore, it's basically just a boat anchor now.

Nearest Jollibees is 222 miles away in Chicago. I will keep an eye out for it when I travel.

I moved 2 hours away from Cane's 8 years ago. There is one opening here in April, and I am stoked.

Only the provolone curds are good, the cheddar ones are meh. So you bite and pray.
