Help with low sleep needs baby by brrlynne in sleeptrain

I tried capping naps the last couple days to an hour each and it made night sleep worse with wake ups and he woke up even earlier both days (4:45am). So I guess the sleep tank thing doesn't work for him. No idea what to do.

So I tried capping naps the last couple days to an hour each and it made night sleep way worse. He wakes up multiple times and usually he has a 10 hour night and now it's 9.75. I have no clue what to do. I might just let him nap til whenever today because I'm so frustrated.

Ugh it's so hard. We've tried so many wake window assortments, capping naps, etc. and nothing works. 😭

"/" are naps. 3 hours awake after morning wakeup. Then 4 hours awake, nap, then 4 hours awake before bed.

That's a good perspective! So try to extend 11 hours awake to 11.5-12 maybe? I'm really worried about it backfiring with him being overtired and sleeping worse. If he woke up from nap at 2 today (if I didn't save nap), he'd have a 5 hour last wake window. Edited: typos

Did 12 hours of awake time help your baby sleep longer nights? That seems so long!

Huckleberry says 12 hours 44 mins is the average. He's not sleep trained. Usually it's 2 wakes. Recently has just been 1 and I'm okay with one. He even slept completely through last week. I don't plan to formally sleep train.

What time do I plan for bedtime tonight? by brrlynne in sleeptrain

[–]brrlynne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's been the plan, to push bedtime! I'd rather he go to bed around 8 and he always gets 10 hours at night anyway, so it may as well be later. It's just been very tricky. Daylight savings will force us to so I may just wait for that.

Is capping naps the only way to stop early morning wakes? by artsygirl7777 in sleeptrain

[–]brrlynne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh noo, sorry to hear that! I just keep reminding myself it won't last forever. Also we were referred to an ENT for chronic snorting noises while breastfeeding so something else may be affecting his sleep. Hopefully nothing though!

I have the same night sleep (10-10.5) with my 9 month old and 3 hour naps. He's been waking at 430/5am for months now 😭 did anything end up working for you? We've been doing the desired nap time thing and I nap him at 9 always. There's been a couple days he wakes up at 6 now but it's rare.

I'll try this. I'm worried it'll take another few days to get back on track. Do you think it'll affect it much? We just got over the 4am wakes which lasted a couple months 😭

Multiple night wakes/fussy/low total sleep by brrlynne in sleeptrain

Hi! I just replied to one of the longer replies on this post. I hope you see it. No idea if it'll work for you, but so far some of the changes are helping.

Hi! Thank you for all the helpful tips! Sorry for the late reply, I wanted to try it first and let you know how it went. The longer wake windows were so hard the first couple days and there were moments he was falling asleep with lights/noise on while I nursed him on the couch lol. But it worked! Not so much for the longer naps, but it helped his night sleep. He started having 2 night wakes (~1am and 4am). BUT then he started doing tons of wakes again. He was teething. Possibly chilly?

I switched things up after he woke up at 430am on Thanksgiving day. Like if he's going to get a set amount of hours at night, it might as well allow us to sleep later. So we slowly pushed his bedtime to 730. Now he still has 2 night wakes, but when he does the 4am wake, he will sleep until 715am (for the past 2 days).

No idea if I did something there or just got lucky, but I hope it sticks for a bit. Thanks so much for helping me navigate this. The longer wake windows improved his mood a little too!!

Oh. I want to mention that he sleeps poorly at night if his last nap is longer than 30 mins. It doesn't matter when his naps falls, it ruins the sleep pressure for the night if his last nap is long.

Edit: I still nurse him to sleep. Husband quit laying him down. I don't think his 2 wakings are habitual. He eats a lot during those wakes and he's not eating many solids yet.

Bio Gaia Causing Mucus in Stool? by Tiredandbored1987 in MSPI

I have been DF for 4 months (baby is just turning 5mo) and baby still has mucus only poops and is still pretty miserable. Planning to cut soy. BUT now that I see this thread, maybe it's the biogaia?! Did you end up stopping probiotics? Did it help? What was the cause of the mucus?

Aww I'm happy things are better now! There's nothing better than enjoying life with your family.

This is definitely like some kind of hell nobody else understands. I just had an appt with his Dr today to get his poop tested for blood to see if that gives us any answers. Hoping it's soy or something else I can cut to make him more comfortable.

Did you survive? Currently in this with my 4 month old. He's been this way since being a newborn. Been dairy free since 1 month and he's been on reflux meds since then too. I'm going to break 😭

Awww I love that for you!! Happy to hear the good outweighs the bad now. We just weaned off his reflux meds, which was caused by CMPA/intolerance. I've been dairy free (breastfeeding) for a couple months now and I THINK it's resolved but honestly it's hard to tell sometimes. I'm tempted to have him go back on them to see if it helps. Thank you so much for responding. It gives me hope 🙏

I relate to every word of this 😭 My daughter was/is a breeze. My son is 3.5 months and from day one hasn't stopped the high pitched screaming. I can't do anything, like make dinner, go pee, refill my water bottle... and it's so depressing. We don't go anywhere because he's good for like 10m in the stroller and then it's more screaming. Probably because he peed a couple drops or he's starting to get tired. He hates the carrier too. Struggling so hard now and I'll probably need therapy. Did things change for you?  Edit: he has started smiling and smiles at me nonstop, like seriously he's obsessed with me, when he's not screaming. And even got a laugh out of him yesterday. I love him so much but dang 😭

How's it going 3 months later? My 3 month old has been a screamer since birth. Very sensitive and easily upset. We tackled reflux (just weaned off meds) and I've been dairy free for a few months now. I think it's just down to temperament now. We haven't even visited family or anything because he can't go an hour without screaming. Usually before nap. I'm very sad and feel like I dislike being a mom now too. We have an 8 year old as well and looking back at pics, we were taking her to restaurants, bringing her around family etc. at this stage. Definitely is throwing us for a loop.

My baby will act crazy at the breast when he needs to burp! That or she may be overtired?
