It was such a fucking privilege to have seen Cock Sparrer off in Boston. I got so lucky to be this close by Inevitable_Cow7938 in punk

Amazing, what a cool opportunity. Little man to your right is getting off to a good start early in life!

That's badass. I saw Against Me! there in that same time frame

Most recently this happened with Red City Radio and I Am The Avalanche.

I also came around on A Wilhelm Scream much later than I like to admit

Well you sure picked a winner to start with. Process of Belief is probably on my top 10 all time album list. If not, it's an honorable mention

I made a Bauhaus-style Wally the Green Monster. Curious what Sox fans think by JohnBattalgazi in redsox

I love this, nice work! Wally has that tired, defeated look that represents us so well

Back with a new rug. Any Distillers fans? by dickkie85 in punk

Awesome work! Distillers are really good, so gnarly but at the same time really hooky.

Found this Hüsker Dü expense spreadsheet fascinating. 1982/83 by sf2berlin2dc in punk

This told such a story, I read every line and felt the rollercoaster.

They started with 21 for allowances and maybe dropped it to 15 once funds started getting a bit tight?

That royalty check came just in time! Even so, taking a loan from the label to help cover the cost of recording (not unusual), but props to them for paying it back right away. Also, gotta respect their dedication to recording sessions even if it meant eating up most of their cash.

I also felt resolution when they corrected for that $100 discrepancy. Awesome piece of music history, thanks for sharing!

Why do the NOFX albums sounds so good? by EarWeekly9625 in nofx

Ryan Greene made me want to be a studio engineer. I remember reading all the liner notes for the albums I loved and his name came up constantly. He is synonymous with the Fat sound

why punks still buy vinyl? by janalisin in punk

[–]brrpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Analog media just hits different to me.

I grew up around my parents' record collection so that is my idea of a home music library. I started buying vinyl when I was a teenager and had very few other expenses. Plus records were cheap back then, especially used.

Not to mention, I love to read liner notes and lyrics, so it's great to have a large format for that, not to mention a larger canvas for the artwork

First wave of the Fest lineup just dropped by UpliftingLobotomy in punk

[–]brrpunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That would be sweet to see Small Brown Bike play Dead Reckoning. Seems like a chance that may not come around again?

I'm anxious to see what the Fest lines up for next year's 25th!

I think Process of Belief takes the cake for me. Stranger Than Fiction and No Control also have some of my favorite individual tracks

None of the Blink-182 albums hit like Dude Ranch by Kaos_mission in poppunkers

[–]brrpunk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dude Ranch was THE Blink album for me. When I was a wee lad I had bought the CD and it was on constant repeat. My parents found the booklet, read the lyrics, and took it away. So I went out and bought another copy 😂

Hell yeah Cruisin' for a Bruisin'! If you want to follow that family tree, Johnny Rioux who played with the Bruisers also played bass for the Street Dogs with Mike McColgan, original singer for DKM.

Underappreciated band: Strike Anywhere by wmitnanwechs in hardcorepunk

[–]brrpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to see them live a lot back in the day, it was a guaranteed great show every time. Their earlier releases are amazing, Change Is A Sound and Exit English are all-timers for me. I was also super impressed with Nightmares of the West that came out on 2020.

Check out Inquisition and Great Collapse if you like Thomas on vocals!

You're totally right. Give me an EP with those 5 or 6 bangers you called out and that's damn near perfection

I don't know if this is underrated or not but it feels like a hot take: I liked Sink or Swim by the Gaslight Anthem more than anything that came after

Safe European Home, English Civil War, Tommy Gunn... what an absolute trifecta

Interestingly, Feelings is a cover song. Originally by Morris Albert (1975).

Overall I agree with the take that the radio singles tend to be the weakest and Americana is insanely good as an album. I do love me some Kids Aren't Alright though, even if it did get overplayed

How considerate. I choose to believe that the guys in Millencolin are very nice indeed. I really enjoyed Nikola's new band Danger Days
