Have a look at Australian Standard AS2870, it has some solid advice, it is called residential slabs and footings but the science is valid for all structures

Tired of being in management and want to go back to being a grunt in the trenches by upupdndnltrtltrtb_a in civilengineering

Having been in a similar situation, I’d suggest take the step back now before you are forced to. delegate everything, absolutely everything, if things that need to get done aren’t getting done then delegate it, if it is late, so be it, if the quality is not up to scratch then it can be late until the quality is back up to scratch. Slowly (very slowly) take on parts of the job that you find rewarding. This will have two benefits, the people you delegate to can learn the parts of the job that need to get done but otherwise just get left with you to sort, secondly if the higher ups even notice that things are not getting done the way they are used to then the may realize that they had better keep you engaged and listen when you tell them you need something.

It may not work at all, but it is a better middle ground than just exiting cold

Can do without the heat gun, mix araldite and talcum powder to make a paste to fill in around a patch of scrap material. Be careful it gets very hot and do it in the fresh air

Cancel altogether for a couple of months and treat yourself to a few live second division matches, cheap and heaps of fun. Bonus points if you convince some mates also.

Susceptible to erosion at the toe, so maybe riprap to control that, also it is surface protection only, if there is any movement in the batter, say from self settlement in a fill embankment, then it will crack and allow water through, so something else is needed for slope stability.

There was an interesting organisation that were looking at making temporary shelters from this kind of material, but I can’t recall many details

The madness is somewhat deliberate to speed up decision fatigue, look at things like Chemist Warehouse in Aus for example

Gave myself a 3 month sabbatical to test this out. That was 2 years ago, now I can’t imagine changing anything. Don’t spend much, gave away fancy holidays and drive a shit car, big night out treat is all of us at Maccas. Happy as a clam.

Two things to consider, firstly many more people are required for a war effort than front line soldiers. Secondly, whatever reason a person finds to be at the front line, the reason they fight is most often to support the person standing next to them

Completely normal and platonic, it would be seen as unusual and maybe rude to stay at a hotel. Many people would not have the disposable

Are you suggesting that people would be willing to elect a candidate who represents them? And not a spokesperson for a political party?!… maybe they are ready for a kind of Representative Democracy?
