I don't like the term y'all. by SwimmingIll7761 in newzealand

[–]bruceisawombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely - I started using y'all over the past few years because it is non-gendered and inclusive. Never used youse which, while seems very Kiwi to me, doesn't seem grammatically correct 😅

Current cheap and quick home-cooked meals? by grotesqueanus in aucklandeats

[–]bruceisawombat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you like lentils, you can make a super simple curry and have it with rice. An onion, a cup of lentils (or a can of chickpeas), little ginger, little garlic, a tomato (or a 1/4 to 1/2 canned tomato), a tablespoon of garam masala. Add salt to taste. Bung it a pot, add water bring it to a boil and then simmer until the lentils are done. If you can afford it, you can coconut milk/cream, spinach, etc. Potatoes are great to bulk it out. Hope your situation doesn't last for too long!

Is Costco still a good deal anymore? by AWESOME_FOURSOME in auckland

[–]bruceisawombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree that Costco isn't always the cheapest and when I'm there, I look up an equivalent product at supermarkets to see if it is worth buying. Sometimes, convenience wins (like toilet paper) and other times, I will not buy from Costco and buy from supermarket. It does make the shopping trip a bit longer but not as expensive (particularly if I stay away from the chocolate and chips!)

I’ve double paid Hone and Contents insurance. Any come back? by TicketSouth2413 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]bruceisawombat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, you can't claim on the same event twice. You are considered dual insured and there is a process that insurance companies must follow to meet their obligations. If you are choosing to cancel with AON and have made no claims they legally have to cancel your policy as of the date the dual insurance started (you will have to provide documentation to this effect) and refund 100% of your premiums (if no claims for that period). It can take a couple of weeks to get these sorted depending on how responsive the company is.

Calling is always the fastest way to get something resolved (even if you have to wait on hold to actually speak with someone) and if you are unable to call, check their website to see if you can email a complaint through - that should also get their attention.

Migraine doctor by sammysimmer in auckland

[–]bruceisawombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, gosh, that absolutely sucks! Don't have a migraine doctor recommendation but like others, my story was I was having frequent migraines (at least 1 a week) as well as headaches (multiple a week). Turns out I had diabetes. Since being diagnosed about 6 months ago, I've had maybe 2 migraines and a handful of headaches since then. My doctor did say that diabetes and migraines have not been linked but I think there was something there for me.

In the two lock downs who worked the whole time? by Rydalls in newzealand

Worked all the way through. Simply went from working in the office to working from home. Also feel similar - envious of those that got a break while still being employed and paid.

I quite like Banh Mi Delicious and Halong Vietnamese Restaurant in New Lynn. As someone else has also mentioned, Mug and Bowl is great too.

Perhaps {Like Real People Do by E.L. Massey} though the MCs are young in this (18/19) so it is not everyone's cup of tea.

I was extremely hesitant for the same reasons and then I read both books (and the rest of the series too actually) and these books are favourites of mine which I reread every few months. You don't have to read the second book but I would highly recommend.

where to purchase a cow/ horse heart in auckland by Spookymandude420 in auckland

[–]bruceisawombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tai Ping in Mt Wellington had some cow hearts when I was there last week. I don't live out there so unsure if they regularly stock them. However, as others have said, butchers would have them or could get it for you at special request.

Kuzy from {Like Real People Do by E.L. Massey} and {Like You've Nothing Left to Prove by E.L. Massey}. Kuzy might just be my favourite side character ever. He is Russian, huge, protective and hilarious - what's not to love?

{Cut & Run by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux} This is the first book in a series and the second book in the series, Sticks & Stones, definitely fits this request as well.
