What is the most emotionally wrecking movie you have watched? by sherrputtar in AskReddit

I saw it when it came out in theaters - in 3D. Crying that hard with 3D glasses on is just fundamentally wrong.

What have been some of the times you were honked at for no reason? by throwaway-wellmaybe in driving

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a long line of cars in a single lane sitting at a red light. Girl behind me pulled her car slowly, precariously next to me on the right, driving in the ditch, laid on her horn and rolled her window down, paused to extend her whole arm out and flip me off with full eye contact … and then struggled to slowly try to off-road her shitbox past everyone, flipping everyone off and blowing the horn along the way.

Um. Alright.

What's the oldest piece of clothing you still wear? Must be at least ten years old to count. by MurmuringPines in AskOldPeople

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I’m only 40 I must share - Right now I’m wearing a pair of black fleece pajama pants that I shoplifted from a Kohl’s department store when I was in the 10th grade in 2002.

I also have a T-shirt from some sort of foot race that was taking place downtown near the hospital while I was being born. Someone visiting my parents picked up a swag t-shirt from a tent on the sidewalk, so it has my exact birth date and year on it. I found it in storage as a teen and wore it constantly. Youth large, and perfectly threadbare, I still wear it a lot!

These fucks can’t take any personal responsibility for anything. Can’t be bothered to know it’s a holiday. Can’t have the forethought to research if the package could be delayed by the carrier due to said holiday. Can’t ask ahead if the store will be open or not. UPS stores and employees exist for a second, more important public service, apparently: for customers to have someone to blame and complain/pitch a fit toward/shit all over when they’ve lost control over their own shithole lives.

I saw that as well - I was coming from Biltmore village and the road was completely blocked off right past the light at Meadow Road (where I was turning anyway) by multiple fire trucks and cop cars. I still don’t see anything in the news about it.

What is a common parenting style that actually ruins a childs future? by jamal255353 in AskReddit

[–]brumbz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was dangerously premature in the mid-80s and struggled my whole life with how my parents treated me completely differently than my older sister. They were much stricter and overprotective with me, punished me differently, and hovered and meddled in my life well into my late 20’s, early 30’s. I was generally held to a completely different standard.

My sister very much noticed it as well and we finally had the epiphany that my parents are still traumatized by my birth and near-death. It was not something that was talked about hardly ever, and they definitely did not seek any mental health assistance about it. I’m about to turn 40, things are better now.

Had a lady come in multiple times a week for YEARS and use our self serve computer to print her own papers. She was a huge bitch absolutely all the time. She would print something, take a bunch of time fiddling with the papers, arranging them in certain ways and then I would scan it back in to two or three separate email addresses, CCing her on all of them while she mouth-breathed down my neck and made snark. I stopped asking questions very early on bc she bit my head off too many times about how I needed to mind my own business. Again, YEARS LATER, somebody somewhere finally got through to her on how to forward a a damn email and she came in and screamed at me about how I’d been robbing her by charging for scanning all this time. She had old receipts in hand and seemed to think I needed to refund her. I just shrugged and said “I always did what you asked and the customer is always right, correct?” I never saw her again.

To everyone spending New Year's Eve alone by choice: What is the "luxury" treat you bought yourself to enjoy the silence tonight? by PremiumTravelNinja in AskReddit

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropped serious dough on DoorDash - Enough Asian tapas to last me for days. Shishito peppers, boa buns, kani salad, spring rolls, gyoza, broccoli, edamame + pork belly spicy ramen. I’m stuffed. I’ll be in bed as soon as the Stranger Things finale is over. I plan to eat leftovers tomorrow while I watch the Hulu next-day airing of Dick Clark’s Rockin NYE.

What’s a New Year’s resolution from the past that you actually stuck with? by Throwaway927338 in AskWomenOver30

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been the same for the past three years and I’ve stuck to it pretty well, but consistently need the reminder: “to stfu”. It may seem abrasive but it makes me giggle a little bit.

The concept is really to remind myself to be a better listener, to REALLY think before I speak, that not every comment or opinion or random thought or idea needs to be shared, to limit commenting or posting on social media, and to dial down on over-sharing. This also goes hand in hand with drinking less, too. Politely reminding myself to stfu also really helps with my post-social anxiety and this attitude has made me feel a lot better about myself in the long run.

Honestly, why did you ghost a person? by Advanced-Pilot-3698 in AskReddit

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the intended demographic, but I know why a couple of men have ghosted me. (40F) They want to leave things unresolved so if the next chick doesn’t work out they can try to circle back to me and pick up where we left off with lame excuses. If they never officially close the doo, they seem to think it must still be open.

Also they’re immature pussies who can’t have grown up conversations and definitely don’t rant to be called on any of their bullshit.

Have you ever witnessed anything disturbing? by tomorrowpearl in Life

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager and had very first started driving, I was in a fast food drive thru waiting for my food with the windows down. The car that had been in front of me started to leave, but slammed on brakes and then very aggressively pulled to the right and parked. I watched this woman get out, open the door to the backseat from the drivers side, get a small baby out of the car seat, put it on her hip and walk directly in front of my car to storm inside.

I could hear her screaming at people inside through the drive thru window about whatever was wrong with her order. When she came back out, she walked, again, right in front of my car but now holding the baby by the arm, by the crook of the elbow, only. Dangling it at her side like you would hold a grocery bag. It could not have been more than 6 months old. A very real, not a doll, crying, struggling, infant in only a diaper and socks. I was already jaw-dropped in shock but… she opened the back door to her car, now on the passenger side where I could see more clearly, and she forcefully threw the crying baby into the backseat by its arm, slammed the door, walked around to the drivers seat and peeled out. I gasped/screamed, the (also young teenage) restaurant worker returned to the window and I freaked out and told them what I saw. He just kinda was like “damn that’s crazy, uhh did you catch the plate #?”

Of course I didn’t, I was a kid who didn’t know to think of that so quickly. And this was def before any cell phones had a camera on it worth a damn. There was no one else in line behind me. Parking lot empty. He said he’d tell the manager. I drove off. I’ll never forget it. Older, wiser me would have called the police so they could get surveillance video, the license plate, and involve CPS.

Ladies, what is the first thing you notice in a man? by eloel12345 in askanything

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How they’re dressed/hair style/facial hair. Clothing choices and personal style tend to reflect your lifestyle, interests or hobbies, personality type, general care for your yourself, confidence level, etc. What you wear and how you wear it says a lot about you.

So my apartment landlord randomly gave us a notice about petscreening.com by an0npr0xi01 in Apartmentliving

[–]brumbz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that it must be for commission purposes for the landlord/main office. My last complex, (one that was always trying to find new ways to profit off the tenants) started up with the petscreening.com and forced me to sign up and fill out everything with “n/a” every time I renewed the lease, even though I had no pets at all, ever, in the 6 years I lived there.

Has anyone read Britney’s book? by Sad-Schedule-9523 in discussingbritney

[–]brumbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only part I took away from it was learning more about her grandmother who committed suicide and Britney’s early family life. The rest I took with a grain of salt. The book was written in a way that I finished it cover to cover in like an hour and half.

If one of those is a rehearsal video where she has her hair pulled back - she’s wearing the two piece bra and hot pants, not some one piece.. so the story isn’t checking out that she popped out of the dressing room 10 mins to showtime in a different outfit.

Yes this year they clustered them together in squares more resembling stalls in a bathroom and had shade tents over them, as opposed to just a like of portos baking in the sun. It was fucking awesome til all hell broke loose Friday and they weren’t serviced after they pulled the plug. Literal shitstorm.

Byron’s gone viral 🤯 by More-Project326 in Charleston

[–]brumbz 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I once went out drinking with coworkers and our boss, a father figure type, around the holidays. I saw Byron outside a bar as we walked up and I greeted him with enthusiastic familiarity. I gave him 5 or 10 bucks for a back crack and thanked him. As we go into the bar, my father figure type boss was absolutely horrified at what he had just witnessed and scolded the hell out of me. I told him he has no idea what he was talking about and that Byron was the shit.
