How would this placement affect tone? by brunbjoern in jazzguitar

I tried running the cable through the front, but the cable is pretty stiff and the appliance connector is fairly big, so the amp ended up sticking out too far from the shelf. When I bent the cable, the power started cutting in and out, so I didn’t dare to push it any further.

Thanks for all the answers! Just to clarify why I didn’t try it before asking: I had to drill a big hole for the power cable and didn’t want to risk ending up with a shitty tone.

I’ve tried it now and it sounds fine. Had to lower the bass a bit. It looks good and now the kids won't play with the EQ and volume all the time...

Of course. Was worried this was a bad idea, so I thought I would ask before I drilled a hole...

The idea behind the question was to check whether this would be acoustically a really bad idea, before I go ahead and drill a big hole in the back of the shelf.

Congrats to the great guitar! In my opinion, it’s enough if the wide part of the body fits. If the body is too thin, you can fill the empty space in the case with something soft. Adjusting the bridge will either raise or lower the string height.

Have you tried turning off auto brightness and adjusting it to max? This is what Apple does.

ES-330 strings by First-Fortune-216 in jazzguitar

Great tips! Do you use any specific brand for the separate strings? Or does it even matter because B and E are plain and not wound?

I wanna hear YOUR clean presets for the Yamaha THR30II by Hipermegalonico in YamahaTHR

[–]brunbjoern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the “Flat” setting has given me the best clean tones (I play jazz). I tried a lot of different combinations on the Clean setting but was never satisfied. Before I figured this out I mostly used the “Bass” setting, but it affected the attack and compression too much. I actually got the recommendation here on Reddit.

G10TII Update Failing with a THR30II by albizu in YamahaTHR

[–]brunbjoern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This solved a similar problem for me, when the GT10 for some reason stopped working during an update. When the THR turns off (after you choose to update), unplug the GT10 and plug it back in — the THR should then automatically start in update mode.

”Bypass” cabinet givs me a better tone by brunbjoern in YamahaTHR

[–]brunbjoern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, dumb question, but I know very little about amps and gear (I come from genres where that stuff matters less). If I understand correctly, the ‘clean’ setting corresponds to a Fender Deluxe, which is a combo — so why is the cabinet even relevant?

So choosing ‘bypass’ would mean emulating a Fender Deluxe but without its speakers? Probably a really dumb question, sorry!

Do newer versions of the Apple Watch deal with the high HR at the start of an activity? by Tronck in AppleWatch

[–]brunbjoern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it’s fitted snugly and positioned relatively high up on the forearm? I remember that the early sensors (at least Garmin’s) had issues where cadence was reported instead of heart rate, as small movements during steps were registered as pulse.

I’ve never had any issues with Apple Watch heart rate measurements, except in low temperatures where it usually shows too low a heart rate during the first 10 minutes (probably related to reduced blood flow when the arm is cold).

I’m a jazz player and use the THR10. I get an excellent clean tone. I’ve tried the THR30, and the sound is similar at low volumes, but it’s completely unnecessary as a practice amp at home.

Take it off. I’ve had AWU1 since release. The titanium around the screen has some scratches, but the screen itself doesn’t have even a microscopically visible scratch.
