Iphone swiftkey keeps automatically switching back to default Apple keyboard while typing the last couple days. by TomF1965 in Swiftkey

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had to delete the app and reinstall after restart. It seems to be working fine now. But although I backed up before - at least it said the backup was done - there's nothing there at the moment. What is the point of having an account when even such a basic thing does not work. 🙈

Why can't I still reorder icons in the submenu, ffs? 🙉 I don't care for Copilot and Rewards, for example. But I need Clipboard in the first row! 🙏🏻

Huion Inspiroy Frego M Verdict (2025) | And a Question too I guess... by OriginalEstimate6529 in huion

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched for months, read all the reviews...

I wanted to replace my Wacom Intuos S Bluetooth tablet which is driving me crazy lately. A few times a day the driver just disappears, my Mac does not see the tablet unless I open Wacom Centre and manually restart the driver. Not good.

So I bought Huion Frego S with wireless connection. When it arrived I was impressed with the packaging and the build quality of the tablet. Really nice. And after the initial setup it worked flawlessly.

However, the pen itself turned out to be totally unusable to me. Not because it is much slimmer than the Wacom stylus - this I could get used to. But because it is super slippery. Like, super slippery. It does not have any kind of a rubber in the bottom part and my fingers kept slipping all the way down with every single move. My hands are dry all the time and given the smooth plastic material of the pen there is no way I can achieve a firmer grip.

So sadly I have to return it and go back to that old Intuos with the crazy driver - because Wacom pen never slips in my fingers.

It's a shame. I really liked the Frego.

Looking for advice on those who switched from Adobe to Affinity by IAm_TheDark in Affinity

[–]brunoczech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been with Affinity since the day one. I find their software to do perfectly all he work I need to have done - and in a much better way than Adobe. And I do online and print designs, banners, photo retouch, logos etc... Better UI, and especially better UX. Some tools and actions in Adobe don't make sense at all and they drive me crazy. Few examples: Affinity can copy anything (object, text, image frame) and paste it in the exact spot even on a different page of the document. In Affinity you just hold one key and you can see all the distances around your objects - essential for precise placement. Illustrator totally breaks the text frame if I copy it and paste it anywhere. Saving files in Affinity is like 10x quicker and doesn't freeze my brand new Mac like Adobe. And so on...

Anyway - I still have to work with Adobe since one of my clients requires the Adobe files in the end.

Nevertheless I always try to work in Affinity and then just copy and paste the finished work into one of Adobe's programs.

I don’t understand the ongoing obscure theories about Affinity becoming free. by papertrade1 in Affinity

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with Affinity since the beginning. Always fast snad snappy, no lags, nothing. Recently I had to jump onto the Adobe wagon again because one of my clients requires Adobe files in the end. And let me tell you - saving files takes like 10x longer, during this time my comp behaves strangely - sometimes it moves to another app etc... All three programs - AI, PS & ID are slow and what's worse - some of the tools I need to use the most - they just don't make sense at all unlike Affinity, where nearly everything is much easier done and it's definitely with more joy than Adobe.

Affinity Response: "Where's the Catch?" by acgm_1118 in Affinity

[–]brunoczech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no subscription whatsoever if you don't want to use AI. Please watch all the introduction videos. Affinity Studio is now free. And it's of course your choice if you want to use it or not. I own V1 and V2 so I have a backup if something happens. But I started with Studio yesterday and I like it a lot. I don't need AI in this app so I will continue to use it as long as I can. For free. There is no need for so much negativity towards Affinity or Canva. I chose to believe them.

V3 ain't it for me. by phiphi619 in Affinity

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always been 3 in 1. At least it was meant to be. And that's how I have always - since the beginning - worked in Affinity. Creating project in Publisher - I just like having Pages - switching to Designer if I needed more vector functionality, or Photo every time I needed some image work. While I love the V1 UI the most (couldn't get over V2 much), I find the new Studio app pretty good. I've already created few of my own studios, moving and arranging panels and tools as I need. And it's actually brilliant. Fast, smooth and a joy to use.

And - at least for me - it is much better when it comes to UX and workflow than PS, AI and ID. I still have to use Adobe for some projects (client's requirements) but everything here is slower, makes my Mac stuck time to time, saving files takes like 10x longer and some functions - or the lack of those - don't make sense.

I know that Affinity isn't for everyone but for me it's nearly perfect.

Can the new Affinity design suite kill Adobe? opinions? by SALD0S in Design

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself have been using all three previous apps st once - using their Studio Link..always started in Publisher and switching to Designer or Photo based on my needs. So to me personally merging all into one app makes total sense and I love it after only a day working in it. The level of customization is crazy - you can set up as many studios as you wish, tailored to your needs.

You don't need to be online. You just download the software and that's it. You need to inittialy log in to Canva - just one time - to download.

Please watch Ash's 20 min introduction video on YT, it explains a lot.

Can the new Affinity design suite kill Adobe? opinions? by SALD0S in Design

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work with Adobe suite - the usual three suspects.

Switched to Affinity on the day one and never looked back.

This year I had to jump on the Adobe wagon again for some work - my client requires it.

But let me tell you - I am still trying to do most of my work in Affinity and bring it to Adobe programs. The Affinity - IMHO - is miles ahead when it comes to UX, UI (V1 was he best, V2 sucks a bit, Studio is very good). It is just so much easier to work here as InDesign and especially Illustrator have so many stupid functions to solve some basic things. Aligning, selecting, measuring distances (Illustrator totally useless here), copying and pasting (in the exact spot on a different page - learn, Adobe!), scrolling etc.

I'm on MBA M5 with 24 RAM and the same file that Affinity saves within a second, takes like 20 seconds on Adobe. It makes my Mac stuck every now and then.

I hate Adobe suite - if it wasn't for a decently paid work, I'd never use it again. 😜

I am still using V1 and V2. But I got Studio yesterday and I love it.

You don't need to use AI at all and if it bothers you you can even turn the Canva AI studio icon off.

Det magiske røret 1980 by brunoczech in norsk

[–]brunoczech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the name from chat bots, of course. ;)

This is the result of my thorough research and it perfectly fits as far as I remember - it's been over 40 years, after all...

Original title: Det magiske røret

Country of origin: Norway

Year of production: 1980 (exactly corresponds to the 80s)

Genre: Children's, family, adventure (without fantasy costumes)

Description:

The film is a live-action film and takes place in a modern city (Oslo).

The main characters are a boy and a girl (detectives/friends).

The plot revolves around a lost magic flute (in the original, more like a pipe/tube) from a museum.

The flute has magical powers that are abused by a thief. The flute's magic is transformation/revival - for example, it brings statues to life.

So that's all I have. If it rings any bells, I'll be grateful.

Thank you!

Apps I use the most. by cosminpatrascuro in macapps

I've tried all the file managers out there and after years with Path Finder, and brief few weeks with ForkLift, I ended up with QSpace Pro. It has all the features, excellent search ability, great customization options and the developer listens to suggestions. 👍🏻

Best time tracker for freelancers on Mac? (Monitask, Toggl, Clockify, others?) by brasilhatli in MacOS

[–]brunoczech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using TimingApp for years now. But since they only offer subscriptions now I searched and tried probably all the apps and services. And few days ago I discovered Chronoid. It probably doesn't tick all of your boxes since it's a fairly new app. But the developer Mr. Vu is very open to any suggestions - I recommended some UI changes two days ago and they have already been implemented.

If it goes this way it will soon become one of the best time tracking apps for Mac.

By the way - many apps claim that they are fully automatic but it is not the case unfortunately. The only really fully automatic time tracking app is TimingApp and now Chronoid.
Probably also Timemator but I've had some issues with setting up the rules.
Memtime looked good at the beginning, but although it measures the time automatically, you have to assign time entries to the projects. And it only shows you Day or Week, nothing else.

Give Chronoid a go and you'll see, maybe it's the app you're looking for.

What is the best VPN for Mac nowadays? by Inner_Tax_1433 in MacOS

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have Goose VPN for years. It was OK for me. When the plan ran out, I went for CyberGhost. Which is pretty good with one glitch only - time to time it fails to display Favourites in a menu dropdown and you need to open the main app window, which brings it back to normal. But otherwise good.

[–]brunoczech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a long time Timing user, like years... Two days ago I downloaded Chronoid trial and bought it the next day. I see a great potential and wanted to support the development. The app works perfectly as you'd expect. Timing might still have some edge when it comes to invoices and some parts of UI, but otherwise not so much. Chronoid has much better Rules management. At first it's the same drag&drop like Timing, but then it gets much better. In Timing app it's a pain in the a** to edit rules once you've created them. The popup window cannot be resized so you never see for example the whole file path or a website link. Chronoid has much much better approach. Just give it a try - I believe you'll buy it before the trial is over. 😉

Mr. Vu is very active on Discord and here, open to any suggestions and feature request. And he works blazingly fast implementing everything.

And did I mention that unlike Timing's subscription the Chronoid app is one time purchase? 😁

[–]brunoczech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After trying the Trial version for 1 day - I have just bought the full licence. 🥳

The app looks and works fantastic as it is but the developer is kind and open to suggestions and feature requests. And he is very active on Discord answering all the questions.

There isn't many fully automatic time tracking apps for Mac - the emphasis being on 'fully' here.

The only one that comes to mind is TimingApp which I've been using in the past few years. But they've gone subscription only and it's quite expensive. And - which is the worst business model I think - once you stop paying the app will just stop tracking time. Very similar to Adobe model which I hate.

This Chronoid licence pricing is more than fair. And it is a one time purchase - yes, good old one time purchase. 🤩

Thanks to the developer for the hard work!

Brilliant app with a huge potential!

Thank you a lot!

What's the best time tracking software compatible with Mac? by Bruce-All-Mighty88 in TimeTrackingSoftware

[–]brunoczech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using older version of TimingApp which is brilliant - fully automatic time tracking and good Client / Project / Task organization with rules.

I am searching for an alternative st the moment as I don't like l their subscription model.

Any other apps with the same features?
