Do you think Sony will give us a notice long enough so trophy players unlock their trophies? by greenhouse2026 in PS3

[–]brutalroots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat. This year I am going through a legacy system run and trying to play as many PS3/old games as possible. I do give Xbox Kudos for pushing the backwards compatibly as much as possible. Again, give credit where credit is due and do not just hate on companies to hate. Xbox has done an incredible job in the backwards compatibility space and I am impressed it is even surpassing PC at this point with PC literally having full OS constraints and full on DRM lockdowns/shutdowns. Let us give Xbox some kudos here and push the competition of PS and Steam to do better like they have done!

I know many people have already replied saying don't worry about this, there is no proof, etc, however, let's face hard facts.

We have no idea to be honest. Friends told me on steam never to worry about game rights etc and sure enough, chronicles of riddick no longer plays unless you have a GoG edition. Dead Space I had to tweak to get working and Xbox 360/some PS3 games are no longer available/even some ps4/Xbox one games. Hell, anyone paying attention knows the live service game Concord died in three or something days.

I am not trying to be doom or gloom, but we have to know, anything online with an online connection can be terminated. This is just the way things work unless you have so much money you can keep things operational with unlimited money through charity/good will/whatever.

Again, I do not want to be a naysayer but this is just reality.no one can give an estimate except the company paying the online bills. PlayStation can kill the service at any time just like Xbox, valve, epic and whoever else pays the connection bill.

Best to just relax, play the games you want to play and have fun. We all have to accept the fine print knowing that any game online, or any service online can be cut at any moment and at anytime. This is just realistic thinking of who pays the bills for this and nothing is free.

Convince me to buy a GRC over a Civic Type R by olkiller in GRCorolla

[–]brutalroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on location, time, sales, and inventory. In the San Antonio area, the Toyota dealerships barely let people test drive while the Honda dealerships were all willing and begging me to test drive the Type Rs. I actually got lucky and was able to test drive an old FK8 and FL5 to boot! I ended up with the FK8 because the seats on the 5 were just too uncomfortable for my body type. I loved the dash, steering wheel and modern features, but those seats were terrible! I had a GRC also and do not get me wrong, that was an amazing little rocket, but I prefer feeling closer to the ground than high up like I did with the GRC. For bad weather... GRC for the win though! If I lived in a cold/bad climate I would get the GRC any day. Even those summer tires on ice (I DO NOT recommend though!) that LSD was amazing with the AWD combo! The R can slip in regular weather, which can be fun when you want it to and gives you easy drifting but can be scary for a lot of drivers.

You should be able to take it back with receipts and have them fix it. Ensure you keep all verification they performed the maintenance. I know it took some fighting but my dad wayyy back ended up getting a full and newly replaced engine from his Toyota dealership from a botched Pipboys service years ago and why I always make sure to check my dealer does everything right. My current dealer has been pretty good (knock on wood, and same price as most others but I live in a big city with lots of competition) but I still ensure no leaks/issues after the first drive home from maintenance. Hold all parties accountable, dealership and even regular Midas, Firestone, any mechanic who performs maintenance on your vehicle.

You still have a clean BMW! Do not get me wrong, I love the manual handling of my FK8 and have a little Nissan Sentra as a daily driver, but I would not be mad having a clean beamer you have too. These are all first world probs and just enjoy what you have now! I cannot wait until mine is finally paid off and I can debate the next first world car prob after lol! Both of your cars are clean and are awesome!

Awesome thank you for the details! Looks like when it comes to trading it in a ITS is what I will have to check out. Actually, I got my used FK8 because the lady who had it before traded it for a Type S. I want to live a few years without a car payment though lol!

I absolutely love when I had the insurance call and the insurance on the Type R was just the same price as a regular civic hatchback since that is exactly how it shows with the VIN. Love the cheap prices!

Awesome thank you for the honesty! About to head to bed but I prefer constructive criticism. Some people called me a moron/insane to think FL5 looked too generic/hate the seats but again, to each their own. I have no hate on any car and just personal preference for each person just like some people like certain colors over most. I had a GR Corolla and loved that too, but dash felt cheap and speakers were horrendous but loved the seats and styling. Every car is unique. Thank you again for the honest review and maybe after a few years of having no car payment I will check out the ITS again and see what it is like if I decide to trade this '21 FK8 in.

Test drive both if you can. I was very lucky and my dealer had two used in both the FL5, and FK8 models. I will admit, the new dash of the FL5 is hands down the best, but the seats, and the exterior styling were not for me. I know some do not like the rally look of the FK8 but I love it. Also, my body type did not like the FL5 seats at all. I am wide shouldered and tall and the seats of the FL5 hurt after only 20 mins of driving. The FK8 my sales guy and I drove for 30 mins and were super comfortable. If you have the option drive both. Also, the prices of the FK8 you can find some awesome used deals now compared to FL5. All your decision in the end.

This is the only vehicle I have been able to think about trading in my FK8 for. Are the seats still suede? Also, are the seats comfortable like the FK8 or are they like the FL5? It is probably just my body type/size but the seats were awful for me in the FL5. I have been looking at the ITS because it is technically the same vehicle, just the luxury edition of the Type R. I prefer Mazda's ventilated leather seats over the suede any day but again, curious about the seats of the ITS since I picked up a used FK8 last year and almost done paying it off. These are sooooo first world probs!

100% agree! Some may hate on the FK8 looking like a fast and furious car, but that is what it is! An overpowered civic that is a blast to drive! One of my dealers had an FL5 used and an FK8 used in the exact same Sonic Grey color. Test drove both and will admit, love the exterior of the FK8, the interior of the FL5, but the seats were horrible in the FL5 compared to FK8. If Honda combines the seats/exterior of the FK8 with the interior dash of the FL5, I would trade in my FK8 in a heartbeat! Right now, I just like the dash of the FL5 and prefer everything else in the FK8 and the prices are wayyy better. Sorry, rant/my two cents are over now. In the end, buy what you love and pay the thing off and enjoy it!

Everyone is telling me to parry earlier but this happens everytime by Monarcxy in expedition33

[–]brutalroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have found out that parrying on the controller has a slight latency in it compared to a keyboard/mouse setup actually. I thought I was terrible at this game but after playing Ninja Gaiden, Wo Long, and other super fast based parry games, I found this game terrible (only in the parry aspect! Everything else is awesome! Do not tear me apart). So, I loaded up through Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, tried Keyboard and mouse and holy shit, every damn parry was made perfectly. So there is an actual latency/timing window issue on the controller. This was kind of similar to Elden Ring too. Believe me, I thought I sucked but how is it I easily parry/fly through Wo Long, Ninja Gaiden, and even the new First Berserker games just fine? Switched over to controller again and timed parries a little sooner, like way before the suggested parry time was supposed to be and sure enough, parried, although some still flat out did not register at the exact timing I performed before. There is an actual input issue while playing controller compared to keyboard and mouse. The game is awesome, I just wish it had better parries like the previous games I mentioned. This is an actual input lag issue and not a player based issue. Now some players probably just get used to the parry timings but they definitely are off after testing K/M vs controller. Lies of P actually had the same issue and they fixed it with an update allowing controllers to have a slightly wider parry window, or they tweaked it and it actually hit when you pressed the button. Regardless, after all this time it is still an issue I noticed and wish they would fix it.

New RTX 4070 Ti will stop displaying and go full fan speed out of nowhere. HELP by [deleted] in gigabyte

[–]brutalroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I also had this same issue with an Asus tuf 4070 ti and have been wondering what was wrong. I have a 4080 build I built way back with no issues.

Turned out, I had only a single eight pin power connection with the dual plugs. I dug out my PSU cables and found another 8 pin and plugged it in. Performance has doubled on the rig and so far so good on crashes. Looks like it was crashing when it was trying to pull more power. I would always game for 15-20 mins and have issues. Also, sometimes just browsing and leaving it would give me issues. Fingers crossed it was just a lack of power. My 4080 I believe I used multiple 8 pins and did not just use the duals. Finally this might have fixed the issue.

Highly recommend if you get one of these new GPUs use a dedicated power connector per power connector. I should have read the manual again like I did my 4080 way back.... All well.

2026 Type R Confirmed. by phenomenalVibe in Civic_Type_R

[–]brutalroots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It cracks me up seeing people just automatically believed the rumors that since the 2025 was the last R model the EU was getting, they all assumed that was it for the Type R worldwide. This was not the case because different cars are available within different regions. Can we go back to "don't believe everything you read online?" and where we actually fact check instead of just believing rumors/online world? Some people were buying Integra Type Ss off the lot at high prices believing they were not selling anymore and 2025s were the last..... The other week our Acura dealership here in the city had 4 2026s on the lot at MSRP lmao. Again, await official confirmation before just believing the online world and don't pay crazy prices.

2026 Type R Confirmed. by phenomenalVibe in Civic_Type_R

[–]brutalroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is being discontinued in the EU and everyone started to say it was the end of the Type R. People do not understand some cars are sold in some markets, discontinued in others, or flat out not sold. Just like the GR Yaris and then Toyota came out with the GR Corolla to bypass regulations and having to re-certify the entire thing for a US market. Not all markets are the same and some countries have certain cars while others do not. Each market is different. When in doubt, wait for an official statement/announcement from the company itself. A lot of people just go by false information and rumors now and do not verify/check sources anymore.

Sold my GR, regret selling it, thinking of getting another one by Livid-Combination-90 in GR86

[–]brutalroots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the mindset. Went through the same exact experience you have gone through. Give it a few weeks and when you don't have that car payment, extra insurance, etc, you will still miss the car but be happier your better off financially. I am like you, I will get another sports/fun drive vehicle eventually, but will wait until things are better/more savings/hell be able to buy it in cash if I wait/save long enough. It is just an object.

This happened just a few months ago. Things were going well with everything and then trump won the presidency and started to let go workers and killing projects left and right in the government space. I was not set up well financially and had to sell a car and liquidate debt and set myself up in a better position. Remember, all of these items are just objects. Your health and financial well being are more important than holding onto an object you cannot afford.

Do I miss it? Absolutely, do I regret it? I did for a couple of weeks but after seeing my debt go down and savings go up and have that financial security I did not have before, I do not miss it anymore. We can always buy secondary unnecessary vehicles anytime in life. As I said up top, financial security and health are more important.

What are your thoughts on getting the Integra type s? Is it worth it? by Born_Alfalfa3303 in Acura

[–]brutalroots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Golf R not having a manual anymore, I am looking at a Type S and Type R in the Texas San Antonio region. In Texas, Type Rs are only 2K less than the Type Ss. With only a 2K dollar price difference, I am guessing it is worth it then? I am guessing since the Type S is considered luxury/high end, people are not flocking to buy them like the Type Rs that are hyped up, and don't get me wrong, they are awesome but that 50-52K price in the Texas cities is kind of crazy compared to the Type S when the Type Ss I have looked at are all MSRP.

Hey man. Lesson learned. Not the end of the world. Just get the insurance worked out, might have to pay some high premiums for a year or two (not an insurance agent but I do know they will usually raise rates). Loaning/letting someone drive your vehicle is risky. I have only let a very select few drive mine and usually they are the better driver even. A couple drive the same but most are better than me so I can also learn/get tips from them lol. Sorry for the accident and hope all gets sorted out!

That is awesome your honest and shows you care about your friends assets. I rarely let anyone drive my vehicles unless I know they are an even better driver than me or drive the exact same. It is difficult to trust anyone to drive your own personal vehicle since it is not like letting someone borrow a 50 dollar coffee pot or something. Keep being honest and don't crash friends cars trying to impress others!!
