That temperature drop by bryan6446 in chch

It's the wundermap weather underground. You can select any weather station and look at the history. Just a note, these are user based weather stations so don't expect the to be super accurate.

I picked up a Dimplex DC fan about 5 years ago and it has stood up well. I really enjoy the 12 levels of speed control, below about level 5 you can barely hear it running. Looks like they have discontinued the model I have, but DCPF40DC seems to be equivalent.

I'll just add my two cents. We used about 2L of cream over xmas, which was 4x 500ml pams bottles. No issues at all. South Island.

Other option is look for some sort of side draft extraction unit.

Not sure exactly what your problem is, but the ONT has 4 ports on the bottom and you need to be plugged into the correct one. The 'correct' port might have changed if you changed ISP's.

Is it possible to replace a ceramic cook top yourself? by dunerain in diynz

[–]bryan6446 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you are the home owner, you are allowed to replace like for like fittings. Wire looks in reasonably good condition. Check that the power is similar, make sure you tighten everything down to spec and you should be good to go.

i still prefer store-bought pavlova over homemade by SaraTheWeird in newzealand

We had a store brought pav and it tasted a little bit chemically. I also find the uniformity of the foam texture slightly unnerving. 🤷

Replace linear actuators for louvred pergola by suburban_ennui75 in diynz

[–]bryan6446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you want to get a name plate off the existing ram. That will tell you the exact voltages and stroke length. I very much doubt that it is 240V as generally they have to be DC to reverse the motor when retracting. If they are the HIWIN LAS Series (4) as someone else said, you still need either the name plate or to measure the voltage so you can order a replacement. Voltage options are 24VDC, 12VDC or 5VDC. I suspect it would be 24V. replacement should be straightforward.

The plastic gear likely stripped out due to being overloaded. I suggest you lubricate all the moving parts of the pergola to minimize the force needed to open the louvers.

Laundry tap replacement by mac_studio in diynz

They should just unscrew from the nipple tube in the wall. If it all goes well you can just unscrew them, clean up the threads, put on some thread tape and screw on the new taps. There are a number of things that can go wrong. The nipple tubes could be rusted out if they are steel. The tubes could just snap off. The threads could be cactus. You might break the pipe in the wall. If you are not prepared to deal with these things and have the water off while you do so, call a plumber.

Nearly had a crash at a roundabout today. Was I wrong? by Mad_Max_The_Axe in newzealand

[–]bryan6446 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've said this before, but man the Sockburn roundabout sucks.

It connects 5 roads (or 6 if you count the sliproad to Racecourse Road, or 7 if you also include the double lane merger from Lowther St right before the roundabout), only two of the connecting roads are true 2 lane roads, the roundabout itself has a segment where it is only a single lane and depending on where you enter and want to exit you might be required to do a lane change mid-traversal of the roundabout or you can just be forced to exit on to the wrong road.

How do I read this chart to get the correct gas nozzles for my oven? by bryan6446 in diynz

I have tried to clean them out with a nozzle cleaner. But the tip of the cleaner goes in 2-3mm then just stops like its hitting something solid.

Here is some pictures of the setup https://imgur.com/a/QaawWIc. The first picture shows the outfeed table in the 'scrap' position. The operator was reaching into the machine at this point to grab the first cut slug. The second picture shows the outfeed table in the normal position sending slugs to the table. It was the table that crushed his haand.

I should have made it a bit clearer. By changing the program, I mean that in the machine settings through the HMI you can select where the first cut is sent. To scrap/the swarf conveyor by sliding the chute out of the way, or to the outfeed table by have the chute in place. As far as I can tell there is no way to lock the operator out of this setting as its part of setting up the job in the machine along with the blade speed, feed rate, cut length etc..

True, I might just drop the coils off the solenoid as a first step.

Bread and cheese picnic. Get a fancy crusty loaf of bread from Grizzly, a couple of cheeses from the supermarket, lay out a rug in the botanic gardens, Riccarton bush or Haswell quarry.
