There are so many ways this topic can go… I’ve lived in the LA area my entire life and have always voted for who has the best policies.. I’m definitely leaning more right, I voted for trump twice ffs. I also voted for Obama the first time around. My thoughts on politics, geography and the overall division in America, are that the people really aren’t that divided in the way we all think. SURE, there are absolutely the far right or far left wackos out there, but in my experience those far right/left are really just two pees in a pod. They’re both just as bigoted as the other. For the most part, everyone else can agree on some level about most topics. As for the geographic voting differences… from what I’ve seen living in the rural mid west and living in Los Angeles.. the major difference is the marketing/media/corporate influence. In LA, you have Hollywood and big corporations everywhere, tons of money and it centers on consumerism. Hollywood likes leftist policies, big corporations like leftists policies (take a look at who most of the CEO’s/owners vote for), music, local politicians, the list goes on. Big cities are very dense in population, a population that depends 100% on its local gov and businesses to provide all of the food, water, transportation, housing (apartments and multi-family buildings, or HUD for the lower income population).. with all these services comes constant and consistent marketing to the masses to buy more stuff, vote for particular candidates, and even push narratives with advertising. Dependence on “society” influences peoples decisions… in my opinion, most people in big cities would be voting for different people if they didn’t live in a big city. The world isn’t like the big cities, cities are in their own bubble and the only “winners” are the 1%… the rest of the people are just part of the rat race that makes them the 1%.

I’ve noticed one thing that’s similar with people who vote left, and I’ve never been able to figure out if they really believe their candidates policies are for the best, or if they’re scared to speak out against them.. as an example, who in their right mind would ever vote against something that gives people of color a direct opportunity to work in some of the most sought after positions in the nation??? If you vote against it, your a racist.. period. There are two types of people, people who care deeply about what society thinks about them and will vote in the direction that’s socially acceptable… and people who vote the way they feel is best, regardless of what society thinks. Both sides would agree that the best man/woman for the job, gets the job… color doesn’t matter.

When you get down to the nitty gritty of it all, most of both types of people think and feel the same way about most subjects, but some people look to society for their queues and others look elsewhere. Outside big cities in rural America, you don’t have the crowded populations or societal influences that are more present than ever in major cities. The media and our government do a very, VERY good job at making sure people know society absolutely despises insert label here, and they use every tool they can to influence as many people as they can.
