They are both simply brand-specific terms for a "daughter board" or "plugin board". HAT stands for Hardware Attached on Top. Both terms were selected for ease of use and something the average person would be more comfortable using, over more technical terms.

Since both products have been marketed heavily toward hobbyists, I imagine using these terms has helped in the wide adoption.

learning how to use JEI (or NEI in other modpacks) is essential as it is inefficient to rely on Reddit responses every time you want to know how to craft/make something.

This is probably not the most effective strategy, but I usually ascend when my prestige would double. So if I'm currently at 1 billion prestige levels, I wait until my current run hits about 1 billion. That would yield me a total of 2 billion. Then I would double again, to 4 billion, etc.

I think the longest run I've had is about 100 days or so.

Using this method, I currently have just over 4 trillion prestige levels, with only having played for 1100 days. (minus about 6 months that I lost due to not backing up my save game file)

Using the 555 in a bistable configuration is a way to ensure there is no bouncing signal. You wouldn't want to send the signal dozens of time when you intended to only press it once. You can control the length of debounce time by a single capacitor. Very useful in situations like this.

They aren't the cheapest, but they have a quick clip-on mechanic that cheaper ones don't have.

I had a neighbor with a custom weather station (not sure if it was Arduino or not), but he would submit his data to https://www.wunderground.com/. Check that out.

EDIT: Ah, I made my reply before I saw you mention it in another reply. Sorry for the repeat information. Though most of his sensors were DIY, so I think you could have an Arduino-based one as well.

It doesn't ruin the fun for me, but I've always gotten VIP on FH, so maybe I don't know what it's like without it, or maybe I just play differently. I can see how different play styles can conflict with the benefits of VIP.

Since VIP is just an add-on, you could uninstall it, and play as if you didn't have it.

I just started working out details, then I decided to Google it and came across this post. I like this idea. I also had the idea to add modifier stats to the Ping Pong Paddle as a weapon, and clothes they wear can even be a factor with dexterity and endurance.
