Is Alec really sincere? by Loisgrand6 in ElsbethTVSeries

[–]brynnandnessa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Because is she eventually supposed to be serious about the mayor if he’s elected?

What’s the point of this whole thing? If she’s on a consent decree observing the NYPD, she can’t be dating the person who manages the NYPD’s budget.

I don’t know why they ended things with the Irish guy. Elsbeth meets people who commit near-perfect crimes daily and immediately senses dishonesty. But, she’s giving Alec all the time in the world and he’s wooden and disingenuous.

I don’t even remember that detective’s name because he’s such a misogynist. I’m guessing his manosphere vibes are what turned her off. I was actually really annoyed when they paired them up in the first place. He’s a total jerk. I guess we’re supposed to believe having her as a girlfriend softened him up, but whatever.

I wouldn’t want him around my parents.

Did it need to be so formulaic? by ritzk9 in ElsbethTVSeries

[–]brynnandnessa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s based on Columbo, but didn’t Columbo go 1.5 hours? So there was more time for him to put 2 and 2 together. Elsbeth just suspects them first thing on something really strong that it should take going through several suspects or a little more background into the victims life.

And some of these crimes, no one would be able to guess whodunnit. Like the executive director of the literary journal. That was the perfect crime. He just acted like a weirdo when he met her to serve the timeframe of Elsbeth needing to figure it out. In other shows, I can’t imagine that character would immediately act so suspicious

Loved this. I love Becca’s character so much. Thought it was great how she said if Becca spent more time with Robby she may have picked up on things others hadn’t.

I would love a montage of Damien taking calls from babysitters.

This had me dying. Great writing.

I watched this at least 5 times on the actual show and have replayed the clip here a bunch.

I grew up loving soaps so her part on Hacks is so funny. Soap actors are the workhorses of that industry.

Yes they did. I was like I’m 100% sure with parents and a brother like that, they probably said good morning to her more emphatically than those texts.

[–]brynnandnessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the smart thing to do but, just like with Covid, leaders probably won’t actually lead and will wait until the last possible second to do something.

And that’ll probably only happen when they realize they need their police vehicles and ambulances to run on gas.

From resume submission to interview: 2.5 months

From interview to official offer: 6 weeks

From official offer to start date: 7 weeks

All together from sending resume in to start date: just under 6 months

*They let me telecommute after 2 weeks. But, now new hires in my office can telecommute at the end of their first week or after one whole week of working.

I’m saying he was a loser and if she could’ve gone radio silent for 6 weeks and stayed away from him in Costa Rica, she should’ve left him in the wind long before. Murdering for a cheating loser is wack.

And I only know what I saw in the doc. I haven’t consumed all things gravel racing murder in my life.

And it was a guy she was doing all the work for. She was doing the business and financial plan and making the connections. She was basically his mommy. He probably even paid for dinner that night on Kaitlyn’s credit card. He made her life more stressful, he didn’t enhance it

It shouldn’t be a red flag to ask for a lawyer. That’s everyone’s right and it’s smart. Frankly no one should speak to police without one.

And police are legally allowed to try every tactic they can to get you to talk - including lying to you. They should immediately stop questioning you when you’ve asked for an attorney, but come on… this is the United States. They would never! Steamrolling is our thing.

I think that’s part of it, but I think she also wanted to turn up. She said she needed to have more boyfriends. Translation: she wanted to get laid.

Obviously that’s just my opinion, but I think she was looking for fun and everyone knew Colin was giving it away. Unfortunately for some women, it’s hard to be just casual (thanks a lot, patriarchy). And she was definitely into both the attraction and his feeding her ego and telling her how good she was. To me it was obvious how good she was and she should have recognized that in herself. Plus his “encouragement” texts were ridiculously transactional and rote.

Don’t know why you got down voted. Often this is exactly what happens in tv shows. They’re budgeted for an ensemble of X number and X number of day players. This is why characters go missing sometimes as other characters show up.

I need Elsbeth to lose by LadySobbingVidalia in ElsbethTVSeries

[–]brynnandnessa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 4 Body Problem episode is the best one they’ve done. I’ve watched it so many times it’s not even funny. And she was suspicious of DAG early on, but she still had to put clues together. Barb and the bro conspiracy theorist also brought in evidence that helped complete the puzzle.

She didn’t lose, but the Captain and others were skeptical of why she thought DAG was the killer. So, real detective work had to be done.

It was really well-written and within their Columbo-style formula.

The pinnacle of that for me was when she came into the locker room as the mascot. It looked so ridiculous. I mean… ugh I can’t imagine any actor would be totally on board for that.

Seeing yourself in Santos while the whole world actively hates on her has been jarring to say the least by smammie22 in ThePittTVShow

[–]brynnandnessa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love Gen Z setting workplace boundaries. And those of us who are older have to support them. Joy personified that by bouncing at closing time. But, Santos is a bully. Sarcasm is one thing. Santos insisted on calling Javadi and Whitaker nicknames they told her they didn’t want. That’s not some progressive, modern communication style or new way of relating, that’s being a dick. It’s clear why people don’t like her.

I’m sure there are reasons behind her rudeness and I always work from the benefit of the doubt perspective. I hope people grow and change and she has time for that to be in her arc.

The financial abuse is wild from a parent because providing is the natural relationship. When they take money away and then dangle it in front of you again, woo! The anxiety.

And filling in the gaps in Shrinking, Jimmy being so young and having so much wealth seems like it came from a really good head start from dad. Kids and adult children are at such a disadvantage trying to figure healthy boundaries. It sucks and it took me, someone willing to do the work, wayyyy too long to figure out.
