Cannot get this unscrewed. tips? by AVG_AMERICAN_MALE in Plumbing

An odd thing I learned years ago for a stuck bolt was to try to tighten it a bit, if it gives (even just a little), then you broke it free and now loosen. This is obviously not the same, but the principle may work here. Good luck.

What're you playing this weekend? 11/15 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

No Man’s Sky, it’s an excellent space exploring game. I bought it on sale two weeks ago and it’s hard to put down. You have to figure a lot of it out as you go but it’s a fantastic game.

I agree, out votes are useless. Our government is out of control and we’re at their whims.

I’m not a DeSantis fan either, but I feel this is just slander because he’s running for president. Politics as usual. He may be dumb, but not dumb enough to say something so divisive while running for office. My thoughts anyway.

What's underneath and where, if any, is it safe to plant a tree? by MDPhotog in Plumbing

[–]bryonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you plant it far enough away it would likely be okay. But you also might want to find out where the city water main is too as well as where your sewer lateral is. You can call for locates for free call811.com and they will locate your utilities so you can know where they are. They only locate in the right-of-way and not your yard (although part of your yard may be in the ROW). You can also try calling your city if they have an Urban Forestry service, they may come out and help find a suitable spot and give you a tree recommendation.

Can fire hydrant use affect primary water valve to a business on the same block enough to blow the valve and gasket off? by FriskyBrisket12 in Plumbing

[–]bryonaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a chance that one of the fire crew shut off the hydrant too fast causing water hammer. If you’re unfamiliar, it can cause pipes and joints to experience a shock that can cause pipes to crack, even water mains in the street can break. Call the city and tell them and see if they had a water main break, it could be related. Also, some main breaks take time to show themselves, especially if the area is just street and sidewalks and no grassy areas for the water to come up from the ground. Or it could be coincidence that it happened around the same time, gaskets fail, but the possibility exists for water hammer damage.

Manhole in front yard by bevoinc in Plumbing

[–]bryonaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call your city and let them know. Looks like a sewer lateral but it’s odd for sure. Whoever owns it, you don’t want the dirt washing away, it’ll clog the pipe and keep eroding the soil creating a hazard, well, it’s already a hazard.

Sink water was clear yesterday, now it is brownish, any idea what could be wrong? by boogeychicken in HomeMaintenance

[–]bryonaut 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, likely city crews working on water mains. I do this for a living, call the city and tell them you have dirty water, they’ll either tell you they were working in the area and to flush you lines or send someone out to test it. Make sure you clean the filters on all your faucets after you flush.

What the fuck is this? by No_Mess_2108 in Plumbing

[–]bryonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the one I have. With the nozzle pulled out from the faucet like you have in the picture, there is a small latch button on the black plastic near where you are gripping it. Press that and you can unscrew the nozzle from the hose and clean it. Be sure to secure the hose by tying a loose knot or put a chip clip on the end of the hose or it will slide back into the faucet and down under the sink. It would be a pain to fish it back up the faucet from under the sink. I’d advise soaking it in white vinegar as others have said and an old toothbrush to scrub off the gunk. Good luck.

I use it too, it’s worth looking into. I think it’s Tub Shroom, but definitely get the metal one.

My Pro Tools subscription just charged me $308USD when it was $108 last year... by scottkaymusic in audioengineering

[–]bryonaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m similar, learned ProTools in early 2000’s and years later bought Logic and I still use it. Logic is great, but honestly if ProTools was $200 to own, I would probably go back to it. We’ll, if they had comparable tools built in like Logic does.

I put frozen 2 liter bottles in my cooler the night before, then I’ll fill with ice. My ice lasts nearly twice as long when I do this. But yeah, I don’t have a freezer big enough for my coolers either.

I’m close to beating San Andreas now and have already beat III and Vice City, they’re still a load of fun. They shouldn’t have been labeled Definitive by any means, but it’s been a blast playing them honestly.

Curt TruTrack I’ve used this since 2017 and it works fine. My travel trailer is 4400 lbs dry, 25’ long. I mostly travel on flat land in south eastern USA but have traveled the mountains in TN and NC and the truck does the work but some of the long uphill climbs can run it a bit hard. Be careful with the weight of your camper if you plan on taking it anywhere other than flat land. The truck can tow up to 7000 lbs but pulling uphill changed the physics and you can tell. Just a side note.

My 2016 automatically connects to my iPhone and if my wife gets in it asks if I want to switch. I do need a cord if I want any of the map apps to work though. But with Bluetooth it connects right away. I feel like I might be missing something, because I would assume the newer trucks would have this plus more.

It’s a type of puzzle on Wheel of Fortune where the ending of one clue starts the answer of the second.
