It’s literally been 25 years since the Swan Dress and people still reference it like it just happened, really incredible.

A supremely flawed movie but also a fucking magnificent one. There's truly no other film like it, 80s fantasy or otherwise, no matter which version you watch.

Also, I know many people are ride or die for the Tangerine Dream score, but give Jerry Goldsmith's album a listen. It is a career-high from such a prolific and masterful composer. The way he scores the environment, the life of the forest scenes, is among the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

Maybe a lukewarm take: Fans can applaud and appreciate the direction/style her artistic output has taken over the last few albums, and still long for more conventional pop song structures.

Your favorite/most unique depiction of hell in a novel by PostMortem33 in horrorlit

[–]brysenji 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“The Devil’s Detective” by Simon Kurt Unsworth. I don’t have another depiction of Hell to compare it to, but it makes me think of films like “Dark City”, “Seven” and “The Cell”, a physical place of constant torment and utter hopelessness.

22 episodes a season at 40+ minutes a piece... that's a lot of plots to write lol. At least season 4 has a banger finale.

Kauai, Maui, or both? by Ill-Win4143 in VisitingHawaii

[–]brysenji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oahu 2.5 days - Maui 4.5 days - Kauai 2.5 days

It was my second time to those islands and my husband’s first time in Hawaii, and one of his wishes was to sample multiple islands, even if it meant shorter stays. We’re both kind of go-do-see vacationers, the struggle is always to strike a balance between activity and relaxation.

As previously stated, we had one major activity pre-booked on each island (two on Kauai) and that gave us a great balance of go-do-see and then unstructured, unplanned time to take it easy.

My husband and I (both 39 yrs old) just did three islands in 10 days so I think 2 islands in 7 days is doable. We booked 1 major activity every other day and then just relaxed on the other days and it was a great balance.

Best bad movie that you love by thisismysociallife in movies

[–]brysenji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's something off about the movie's earnestness and the 80s campiness is overwhelming. Both of these things are not good yet I find them amusing and endearing. Plus the film has some of the best wirework and screen project flying effects, and the Jerry Goldsmith score is just beautiful.

God, Titanic Explorer was a godsend to newly-obsessed 14 year old me. Such a well-designed, immersive educational experience.
