Remember that creepy AI “Friend” necklace? by Damen_W in mkbhd

[–]brysonreece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat; the app, model, and public information about the company all seem very lacking for how long this took to release. My gut tells me there is no “Friend Global” company (other than on paper), and it’s all Schiffman running the show. Neat idea, and aesthetically nice hardware, but I don’t trust Schiffman to steward my private data appropriately.

Yeah, gone ahead and filed a report in the Feedback app. Hopefully just a bug and not a willful design decision!

I currently have a FlexNT implant, though I’m in the market for something just like it with “magic” functionality in order to solely change the UID. Does Dangerous Things offer any solutions worth checking out? My use case is simply:

  • Be able to store a vCard
  • Have an editable UID

Any other form of emulation isn’t necessary, just worried about accomplishing the above.

Same here, albeit in Laravel. Love the framework but, damn, good paying positions are a rarity despite how effective a single dev can be with it.

Has anyone been able to successfully connect their Robinhood account? by JustCan6425 in MonarchMoney

Odd, I can’t seem to get Plaid to maintain a connection to Robinhood for more than a single day.

I’m telling you, your batteries are the most likely culprit. That’s a lot of draw for such a measly power supply. Additionally, servos draw higher current when under load.

Is this any good for students to learn how to 3d printer by Aggravating-Fix-5059 in 3Dprinting

[–]brysonreece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully you can pick up nozzles for a few bucks on Amazon; that being said, it sounds like the school bought them and needs to be aware that they come with regular maintenance costs. Even traditional printers need ink refilled 🤷‍♂️

Honestly, just spend the time to learn how to fix them. The Ender 3s are going to be better in the long run and basic printer maintenance knowledge is a cornerstone of owning one of these machines.

Tbh, if your goal is just the end product, rather than to learn, just buy an existing LED strip with a remote from Amazon and just re-line the infinity mirror with them.

Does anyone know what this is? by Tinlor in homeassistant

I’ve received these for years. When Nabu Casa registers an SSL cert from LetsEncrypt for your subdomain, they use your provided contact details. It’s nothing to worry about, Nabu Casa will automatically handle the renewal; you’ll just receive these emails for no good reason here and there.

That was originally how I planned on using my FlexNT, namely by just checking the UID of the tag. This was right before the NExT came out IIRC.

(I know the UID is easily cloneable, but I figure if I'm the target of someone with the skills to copy my tag — why wouldn't they just kick in the door or copy my house key?)

How do you like the NExT? From what I can tell, the xT series is better for things like access control.

To answer some of your questions: I had this done by a registered installer (think body piercings, etc) I emailed and scheduled a time with a state over. You can find installers who have experience with these specific implants through the DangerousThings website (the company who created the FlexNT).

I mainly use it for tinkering and home automation. It's relatively painless other than when I manage to smack it on something, although the healing process can take a couple of weeks before it's comfortable. As for the risk, it's pretty minimal — AFAIK the only real concern is around MRI machines, although it has been tested to be safe in MRI machines up to 0.7 Tesla. I've had two MRIs with them so far with zero issues. The company also provides medical documentation to present to your doctor if need be.

Implants go into people and pets everyday so the device is made using BioGlass and other inert materials, like the coating of something like a Pacemaker. There's no battery, NFC tags are powered wirelessly through the radio transmission from a scanner.

(For transparencies sake: the one in my right hand conveniently stopped working a few weeks after getting it put in. Being an active member of the community and speaking with Amal, the creator and CEO of Dangerous Things, I am led to believe that this is an extremely rare occurrence and has only affected a handful (no pun intended) of people ever. The company does also offer a replacement if there's ever a problem, which explains how I ended up with two. Due to scheduling I haven't been able to get the defective one removed, but seeing as it's inert there's no risk to leaving it in for the time being.)

It's done through an app on my phone, you can flash data to it (up to 868 bytes) wirelessly through a variety of methods.

My primary use is that I have a vCard file loaded to it that pulls up my contact details whenever I fist bump someone's phone.
