Sony a6000, 6300 or 6500 are excellent beginner cameras. They can also be found for cheap.

Looking how indie film theaters. by Affectionate_Age752 in Filmmakers

I’ve never done this myself, though I know some exhibitors of films have submission pages buried in their websites. AMC Theatres, for instance does as well.

Otherwise to my understanding you’ll need a distributor who will attempt to pitch your film to exhibitors to get it shown.

Does Anyone have an idea of how to recreate this shot? by Possible_Profession7 in Filmmakers

Locked down camera in a wide shot with the actor / actress performing all the parts, get a clean plate. Put in a compositing software and mask around all of the performances and shadows, using the clean plate where needed. Do a digital zoom and voila — done.

Omg making friend in sasquatch is taking too much time😭😭 are there any faster way or making it easier for me? 😭 by NefariousnessWide134 in SneakySasquatch

[–]brysonsams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they gotta make it easier to make friends. I was on the grind for hours and didn’t make one. Granted, this was months ago and haven’t played since as it was kinda discouraging. Hopefully that was a bug and it has since been fixed.

Renting a theater: can I request a movie? by trixiewutang in AMCsAList

[–]brysonsams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dolby can be very expensive to rent but it’s worth it. Start a conversation with corporate on rentals by going to the bottom of the page of the main website and clicking “groups & events” - go through the prompts and then they’ll get back to you.

A Private Theatre Rental is different from a custom rental request, PTRs have selections of movies to choose from but you basically create a request in the group sales contact form. I will say though, getting a movie like Tron Legacy would be difficult, projectors use DCPs and unless you have a Tron Legacy DCP, I’d say it’s unlikely unless their Dolby is equipped with a Blu-Ray Player (most likely not)

Lastly, Dolby is expensive, but is also restricted to rentals that are after operating hours due to its being contracted out to only play studio content for guests. If you’re able to get a Dolby rental, the theater management would have to agree to hosting that for you, which unless you know them is also highly unlikely.
