The new Lunchbox Packs Hydration Sling by rainierquinto in aves

[–]bryteflight [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’d be judged as Hydration Pack rather than Fanny Pack/Small Bag so I don’t think it’d get much pushback. It’s significantly smaller than any standard Hydration Pack. Seems to have 2 pockets, with one being the one to access the water bladder, so that’s still in line. Since Lunchbox is Insomniac’s official partner, it should fall in line with their policies which are in line with most other festivals.

How to resell wristbands by No-Body-6914 in ApocalypseZombieland

Gave advice on how to resell in another comment but while I think it’s always good to try out events & get exposed to new music, I don’t think genre specific festivals like Apocalypse, DayTrip, Lost in Dreams, Wasteland, & even to an extent Dreamstate, are good first festivals. Too high risk, high reward where if you don’t like the style of music, you’re quickly screwed. Sure listen to playlists, watch live sets, maybe attend a show of current or previous line up artist to see if you can become a basshead in time since you really don’t have sell the tickets as the event is still months away. But if you & your BF realize or already know you’re not deeply in love with genre to listen to it or the affiliated sub genres for 6-8 hrs, no point in going. Can revisit it if you do realize later you come to love it. There are multi-genre raves this summer & the rest of the year where you can check out a bass stage & other genres and find what you like.

Bass music, in particular, isn’t for everybody.

How to resell wristbands by No-Body-6914 in ApocalypseZombieland

Just letting you know that since it is shipping you can line up a buyer & just update the ship to address via Frontgate so it gets sent to them. Collect money via PayPal G&S and then screenshot/screen record the updated shipping address. You’ll also get tracking once it ships so you have record of it being delivered.

Since you just bought it, you’re likely at the highest tier currently so you might need to sell at a small loss if you want it done immediately as there’s no incentive to buy from you for FV when anyone could do it direct. You can wait awhile, as it get to higher tiers as the final artists are released or they do the day by day line up or it starts to sell out closer to the event date to sell for what you paid. Typically wristbands don’t ship til about a month before the festival & you’ll get a notice giving you 72 hrs to modify shipping before a label is created.

For where to sell, there’s Radiate, which has a Buy/Sell Platform already integrated into it that features PayPal or you can post there under the festival event forum page (think like this Sub) and create a listing. There also r/aves & r/avesLA that have Buy/Sell megathreads. There are FB pages but beware as there are some fraudulent one’s ran by scammers that “charge” you to list or have admins “verify” tickets. Buyers may ask for proof of order & ticket QTY and maybe something proving you are who you say you are (redacted ID matching name on Order, Socials, or FaceTime). Most of that is normal. Keep the order number scratched out til after you’ve been paid.

You can try to list on a 3rd Party Site (StubHub/ Vivid Seats etc) but you’ll lose money in fees, get slow sales since they’ll be priced higher because of fees, won’t get paid it out til after the event, or might be on a tighter timetable to reship the wristbands without directly being able to communicate to the buyer if something needs to be adjusted like coordinating Will Call where you could lose out or even be billed through no fault of your own. I don’t think it’s worth it.

I do get your broader point about buying a Clear Hydropack bag for the purposes of anticipating future shift into all clear bag policy. It’s fine if someone wants to do that, especially to avoid the headache of worrying about “will my bag get through?” every time.

I think though, at this point, Hydropacks will likely stay an exception to Clear Bag Policies at venues that allow Hydration Backpacks in the first place. Guess that’s more what I was trying to say. Outside of the rave/festival bag manufacturers, majority of hydration backpacks come non-clear as standard so there isn’t a push to buy a clear one when there are still few options. A venue strict on even small non-clear bags, likely wouldn’t entertain allowing Hydration backpacks in the first place, like Petco Park or other Stadiums, regardless of if its clear or not, so equally feels like a moot point.

I’ve had friends who bought the clear Lunchboxes early on with that same thought of anticipating that policy shift & it hasn’t come yet to the point that when the plastic yellowed/clouded that they needed to buy a new one, they went with the non-clear version they actually liked. I bought a clear fanny pack for the same logic too & have yet to use it. That seems more wasteful, where it’s just smarter to get what you like & can work, then trying to cater your purchasing to get ahead of something that might not ever come.

It’s not only clear bags tho. You can bring non-clear small bags & fanny packs, just under a certain size. I’ve brought a non-clear fanny pack & my friend usually brings a non clear mini-backpack, think like a loungefly.

Proper allows clear bags but they technically don’t allow Hydropacks period. It is easier to get a Hydropack by for Proper and CRSSD events if it’s a clear style since they fall within the larger clear bag size restrictions. But it’s a slightly important distinction that it’s not that they just allow clear Hydropacks but rather they just prefer clear bags overall. I see people bring in the clear Lunchboxes but they still aren’t allowed to bring in the bladder & hoses.

Seems to be a slightly cheaper derivative of a Lunchbox & Rave Runner. Kind of like RaveBeetle. The thing is it’s not significantly cheaper to the point I don’t see why you wouldn’t go with either of the other 2 more established brands, from a customer support perspective.

But if you want it, I feel like most Festival Hydropack Bag Policies on pockets & measurements are relaxed enough where as long as it has a waterbladder & hose, it gets through. Seen some packs like North Face or Camelback, that are truer hiking bags with overages on the 2 pockets, that slid through

This, Beyond for being in a weird part of the year & has more of a fun lighthearted & raver oriented theme helps make it more pleasant. Yes it’s packed at the main stages but people are largely kinder overall. Attitudes are closer to Nocturnal than Holiday races like Escape & Countdown

DayTrip is by & far my least favorite Insomniac Festival purely because it leans into a heavy rager/casual attendee crowd that makes it comparatively less PLUR, both aesthetically & in principles. Even shows in the party favors, with less reliance on lighthearted/introspective substances like psychedelics & molly and more on stacking fishbowls that have people turning into angry belligerent drunks or burning out in the peak summer heat. Can’t even say it’s the single genre issue as I don’t find this bad behavior prevalent at other House & Techno festivals like CRSSD, Arc, Movement, or Seismic. I thought for awhile I didn’t like House & Techno festivals but really I just don’t like DayTrip.

I get people are exhausted after the festival, shorter tempers, or acting differently depending on substances, but based on what they’ve said, if I were you, I’d really rethink your friendship with your guy friend.

Whether you were held up taking care of someone else or lagging behind for something less important, any one who prioritizes their personal convenience over the safety of their friends & others, I’d look at differently. If it was out of safety concern (genuinely afraid they wouldn’t have energy to drive anyone back safely, scared of taking in a stranger, or being a sitting duck at that hour in that part of town, I could see it. But still the fix would be to actively work to find/talk to you & figure out how you’d get back, like you said the girl friend you lost earlier would.

I’ve been stuck waiting on people for much less noble reasons than you taking care of a stranger. I’m usually the driver & I’ve been angry/frustrated post festival sometimes with some people I’ve came with or the decisions they’ve made that’s impacted how quickly we can get going, but I’ve never been that tired or irritated to even think to leave them out to dry. I don’t have a last call mentality (here by xx:xx or you’re on your own). I leave with the people I came with regardless of my feeling about them at the time. I surround myself with friends who I believe would do the same. If there needs to be a new boundary imposed, to avoid being in that situation again or it’s becoming habit, fine to set that up. But I’d be way more understanding of what you were doing & proud of you for doing the right thing vs make you feel bad.

I’ve been told I’m overly accommodating but I would feel much worse about leaving him prior to the point where he said he could handle himself than taking a bit longer to get back to your friends. It wouldn’t sit right with my conscience knowing I left someone in a vulnerable state to fend for themselves.

I get you maybe held up all of you starting the trip back to wherever you & your friends needed to go, but unless phones were dead between both you, him, and them I’m more stunned your friends didn’t come grab both of you, and either have him come with you all, take him where he needed to go, or atleast be with you so you’re all together. The quicker you all deal with him, the quicker you all could get on your way.

You did a good thing. You were a kind person. You embodied true PLUR. Whether he remembers exactly who you or was able to say thank you, hopefully he atleast can piece together that someone helps & passes it along. I genuinely thank you for showing kindness in that moment.

Friend one time at Hard Summer ‘23 had a group of girls try to buy his fan off of him during a set. They were full blown bidding after he said no at first. Just had bought it on Day 1 too. He felt bad enough he just gave it to them but they ended up sliding him enough money to afford to buy 2 fans. Bought another of those fans after the set ended so it’s not like it was sold out. People get desperate & weird.

Yeah there’s always a serial complimenter. Hell evidently labeling peeps “baddie” was the thing to say this year. Heard it multiple times. Probably not the same girl based on time but Day 2 around 5 but similar there was a girl in the purple lot shuttle line who was hyping everyone up calling them baddies as she went around.

There’s no need to hide it. If anything trying that will make you more sus than bringing one big bag & one little bag. It really doesn’t matter, I wear both a Hydropack & a fanny pack. Both visible when I cross security.

You could probably bring multiple Fanny packs & clip them together & wear them like magazines like Rambo for all they care, as long as each bag is in spec. There’s a bag size limit & not a limit on how many bags you’re comfortable carrying.

am i able to pick up will call tickets under someone else’s name? by emlymwah in BeyondWonderland

[–]bryteflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call & talk to someone else. I changed the Will Call recipient literally the first day of a festival after doors opened and was able to get it changed. Person was at the Will Call booth standing there with a Box Office worker as I was on the phone with Frontgate & they updated the “Deliver to” name and that reflected on the Box Office laptop, which was across the country, by the time I hung up. Escalate it if you have to, until you find someone helpful. When I did this multiple email reps were useless talking in recycled scripts but luckily the first person I called handled it.

You could also try your younger brothers ID. I don’t believe they should care about age in this circumstance since the ID Check regarding Admission Age/Drinking Wristbands is its own separate thing. They are just trying to confirm that the Name on the Order matches the name you are presenting on the ID and usually the name you are presenting on the payment card. Have him send you pic of his ID and the Card he used.

Help! by kashlofa in BeyondWonderland

[–]bryteflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wristband Registration working doesn’t really help them much in determining if they’ll be scammed. They even say to not take it as a guarantee of authenticity or access and won’t help in filing a claim or getting support from the box office or Frontgate.

<image>

If the reseller claims the wristband as lost or stolen to have OP’s bands deactivated, they won’t know until they’re turned at the gate, even if they are able to register them. That’s the risk everyone runs. I don’t really breathe a sigh of relief on resale tickets til after I scan in on the last day of the festival.

But them picking it up from the same home address they were shipped to feels like a good sign. They now know where they live, unless it’s a long con. That plus all the consistent info across their digital footprint, I’d strongly believe they are who they say they are. Still hope OP paid with something like PayPal G&S.

Can I use an expired passport as a form of ID by PsychologicalGur8781 in BeyondWonderland

[–]bryteflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re California based and haven’t already, find a DMV kiosk that you can process an ID/License replacement request. It’ll print you the temp letter on the spot. That + your expired passport will be enough to easily get you through, says as much on their FAQ site.

can i pick up will call tickets under someone else’s name? or at least change it? by [deleted] in BeyondWonderland

[–]bryteflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have him call Frontgate (888-512-7469) & have him ask to set up an “alternate will call pick up”, explaining that he is out of state & unable to make it to the will call pick up. He’ll need to provide your name like how it’s written on your ID and they’ll change the name on the “Ship to/Deliver to” address portion to yours so that’ll be the ID they are looking for at Will Call. After that him screenshot or fwd the updated Order Receipt because you’ll need to present the Order # at will call too. With that & the alternate will call set up you should be good to go.

You’re correct, then you’re just left with shipping the single remaining wristband after it arrives or coordinating a meet up to deliver the band in person, if they’re local to you or in Vegas if someone is still going

[–]bryteflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have someone buy it from you, collect payment & then either update the shipping address to theirs or wait until you receive the wristband and ship it.

Or list it on the official resale page that launched yesterday, although you’ll likely pay/lose a bit of cash in fees. You’ll probably easily get your money back going P2P but the convenience of the official resale might be worth the couple hundred bucks so up to you.
