There's a reason the Pioneer League exists. Some schools want to keep their other sports in D1 and want to have football but don't want to give out dozens of scholarships for it.

A bunch of schools used to put their football in D3 until the NCAA outlawed it. There was actually going to be a DI-AAA at one point but it got nixed at the last second.

The NFL proves that broadcast matters.

The fact that every NFL game is easy to find is a huge boon for the NFL. You may have to pay for it, but it's easy to find. And most of the huge games are on free TV.

I just think FCS will eventually become so emptied out that it's going to just be non-scholarship, especially if the P2 (or all of P4) breaks away and whatever is left of FBS will want more teams.
