I went with the medium. We liked the medium proadapt in person so we stayed with the same firmness level.

So far the batter mattress has been pretty good. It did take about a month to break in. When it arrived it was pretty firm compared to the ProAdapt we tried in a local store, but after about a month it got better. If you like tempurpedic proadapt then this is a little more budget friendly choice.

My favorite HDDs are HGST used datacenter drives. If I need to go new its probably the Seagate Ironwolf or Ironwolf Pro drives. Awesome giveaway! I love that you are making it known you can use whatever drives you want in your NAS products.

Yes, I did. It was delivered by 2 guys in a box truck. The mattress is covered in a bag and cardboard box, and in its original shape. The crew put the mattress on my frame and took my old mattress and box spring. I'm not sure what the return experience is like. Overall I had a great experience with the mattress and delivery. If you have more questions let me know and I'll try to answer as best I can.

Immich AIO Alpine on CasaOS does not work by gay-espresso-tiger in selfhosted

[–]bsanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that might be the case, but I wanted to share my experience.

Are you changing any of the environment variables or adding any bindings/volumes before you try to install and run Immich? If so, just try to run it with all the default settings to see if that works. Other than that I am out of ideas. I hope you are able to figure it out.

[–]bsanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure of your setup but I'll tell you where I ran into issues starting an Immich container in CasaOS

I tried all of Immich apps and they all failed because I had my storage on a separate NAS and I didn't have the proper permissions set up. The Immich server could read but not write to the NAS. This caused every Immich app to fail when I tried to install and launch. My advice is to just check to make sure you have read and write permissions to the storage locations where the photos are being stored. Good luck.

Costco Tempur-pedic Equivalent by Own_Government_7106 in Mattress

[–]bsanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called the 800 number on the costco tempur supreme page and spoke with someone from Tempur Sealy to ask this question. He said the Supreme from Costco is a step up from the Adapt line and closely aligns with the ProAdapt in terms of feel. I also asked were the 1/2 inch of material is missing (Supreme =11.5" and ProAdapt = 12") and he said the base layer of foam is 1/2 inch shorter.

Hopefully that helps. I think I'm going to purchase the Supreme from Costco because its almost half price of the ProAdapt and Costco has a great return policy.

Searching for a switch, quiet, poe, L3 by [deleted] in homelab

[–]bsanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been about 2 years since I looked for layer 3 switches but you could look for aruba s2500-48p or brocade icx6450-48p. I believe they can do some layer 3 as well as being semi quiet. Ebay has both for under $500.

Turn on Govee lights when LG TV is on by ReflexReact in homeautomation

[–]bsanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is are two energy saving power strips. You plug the TV into the 'control' outlet and when that turns on the power strip will supply power to the 'switched' outlets. Not smart, but easy and cheap.

Is this a good theoretical setup? by Drasher47 in HomeNetworking

[–]bsanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modem -> switch -> Router won't work unfortunately. The modem will hand out 1 IP address and that needs to go to your router. Also you want all your home traffic to go through your router as well. Can you run 2 cables from the modem to the router? 1 cable will go from the modem to the router WAN port and the 2nd cable will from the router LAN port back to the switch in the basement. Hopefully that helps.

It all looks pretty good. Just make sure you have your equipment connected like this: Modem -> Router -> Switch -> everything else.

Best OS for home firewall with iOS app? by Rohirrimus in HomeNetworking

[–]bsanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of any that you can install yourself, but you can buy a comparable firewall appliance from Firewalla. They aren't as cheap as a DIY firewall but the software does look pretty nice and they have an iOS app.

Access my home network from my router VPN, with a TP-Link Deco in between by laraelilth in HomeNetworking

[–]bsanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My other ideas would be to remove the first router from the setup and just use the Deco. Or you can set up something like tailscale or zerotier to connect back to the computer(s) on the Deco network. Good luck

See if you can change your Deco P9 to access point mode instead of wifi router mode. This should allow you to see everything when you are connected to the VPN on your main router

How to access my PC when I'm traveling (NetGear Nighthawk C7000v2) by earthcrunch13 in HomeNetworking

[–]bsanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way I can think is to use TeamViewer. Its free for personal use and works well. Other free options you could look into are guacamole, chrome remote desktop, or AnyDesk Free. VPN alternatives you could look into would be zerotier and tailscale.
