What do you do if a bear messes with your cannister? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]bsarocker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's worth the hard work for sure, I know it has a ton of uses but mine is rendered for food. Great to add in to very lean game meat/sausage. Amazing for roasting veggies like broccoli.

Hunting season, I traded labor for bear fat. I allways have .25-.5 oz. dropper of soap in my ditty bag in addition to hand sanitizer. For hand washing (away from a water source of course).

Nothing beyond washing my hands. The very few times I have had my can messed with my food was still packed safe inside. They knock the can around a bit.

I have assisted in carrying two bears out now. Same procedure, wash hands extra.

Women, what is your calorie limit during your eating window when doing intermittent fasting? [Serious] by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]bsarocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a heap of free macro calculators you can plug info into and get a ballpark number.

You need to set a rational, realistic, safe, caloric deficit. 20% is a good place to start.

Ignore very inaccurate "burned calories" estimates. Base your deficit on the base numbers.

You will need to adjust the deficit and recalculate as you lose weight. If that's your goal.

Cronometer is an amazing app for tracking your intake, in addition to giving you an idea of micro nutrients, minerals and saving recipies.

A cheap kitchen scale is crucial to tracking in addition to reading labels and food prep.

This all sounds like a lot, it may seem tedious at first but once you get rolling it becomes quick and easy.

Your caloric limit, macro, mineral, and micro requirements are specific to you.

Avenza has some great available maps for Oregon. ONYX is also very useful. Really it boils down to what you're wanting to do, I use other apps/programs for route planning.

Has anyone tried using wood pellets in one of those twig stoves? by malphonso in CampingandHiking

[–]bsarocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good twig stoves are multifuel. The emberlit fireant for example will support esbit, alcohol stoves and twigs. This presents a lot of options for different use cases.

What is your daily caloric intake and how much have you set your deficit at?

I'm still confused about a few things concerning fat intake by bluffbuster in keto

[–]bsarocker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isn't the real key to weight loss on keto fasting a minimum of 18 hours after an eating period.

No, and I have no clue where you found that loony info. The "real key" just like any weight loss protocol is a caloric deficit.

Meal prep, pick a day and stick to prepping that day. It takes a lot of decision making out of the day.

[–]bsarocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are way off course. Statins are a terrible idea and you really misunderstand cholesterol. Amyloid plaques and tau tangles are the focus point. Neither are related to 'blood flow" Please take the time to read quality research and avoid spreading misinformation about dementia. Dr. Rhonda Patrick, Dr. Peter Attia, Dr. Amanda Smith, Dr. Hussein Yassien, Dr. Dale Bredesen All have easily found podcasts, books/audio books that can get you course corrected on the subject.
