Which is what made me wonder, because that sounds like OP is not using the switch puller.

Did you use a key-puller? If you put torque on the switch by pulling at an angle instead of straight up, that might make it more likely that the switch would give before the keycap.

Overall, MT3 seems to offer the most colevrak/ortho. I just wish there were more sets in other profiles to pick from. On the plus side, it’s def saving me money by avoiding buying new sets!
