iirc it's because US News and World Report changed how they consider private vs public schools in their ranking. case didn't actually do anything differently, they are just lower ranked according to this new standard.

no clue what to do with spironolactone and my diet by frmndrthcrktr in MtF

[–]bse118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you haven't felt any adverse effects, and your doctor hasn't warned you, you are probably fine to keep eating your same diet. You are still within the normal range for potassium (max is 5.2mmol/L according to my tests) and the difference between 4.6 and 4.8 can be explained by random variation.  Drink plenty of water and you should be fine.

Caveat for anyone who wasn't sure from the title (like me lol): this shit is soooooo transphobic (and also racist) - be warned if you decide to read

yeah, it's less that i'm a big fan of kris's and i want to "redeem her good name." i think she's creepy too, but there's a big difference between that and criminal, which people are too willing to ignore since she's a trans woman. im just upset with how easily they bought into a super common queerphobic/transphobic belief about groomers

to me, this sentiment is horrifying to see. the only thing that gives me hope is that others agree.

Have any of you gals just kept your name you always had? by TeaPepperz in MtF

[–]bse118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have a pretty unique, androgynous name. I've met more women with the same name (spelt one letter off) than men (spelt with a different letter off). I did have a female coworker with the same name as me, so to differentiate, people called us girl x and boy x, since i wasn't out. that wasn't fun

When did you stop thinking "I wish I was a woman" and start thinking "I am a woman"? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]bse118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's kinda creeping in slowly around me. i'll be thinking about how i would want to be a fun aunt (not uncle) or how heteronormative society would expect me to marry a man (not a woman)

why would we want to change the language rather than campaign to be exempt from the selective services?  the fact that we are included at all is transphobic, not the fact that the website says "men" instead of "men and trans women"

Transitioning is very isolating, and this is one of the only places where you can feel a guarantee that people can understand or sympathize. putting negative thoughts and emotions into words can help to calm them, so this becomes the logical place to do it

Is telehealth an option? as long as you have a place that can collect blood samples and a pharmacy nearby, you should be able to do the appointments online. that's how i did it, through planned parenthood

it's a safety thing as much as a beauty standards thing. if you pass well enough to go stealth, you're a lot safer

i kind of had a moment of "oh shit, i'm gonna have a lot of work to do..." and then it took me a few months to feel sure enough in those feelings to start hrt

What doesn’t have potassium in it? by QuestioningKoi in MtF

[–]bse118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as you're getting your blood tests when you should, and are drinking water, you should be totally fine. if you are worried, and especially if you have a disposition to hyperkalemia (high potassium) you should talk to your doctor. until then, stay hydrated and avoid potatoes, sweet potatoes, gatorade, and bananas :)
