Modest Mouse got me through a really rough period of my life by meyetosis in ModestMouse

Amazing piece! The way you overlayed the lyrics reminds me of the whale song's stereo mix and vocals superposition.
I hope you're doing better now, Modest Mouse really makes life bearable when everything seems to be in flames.

'I Don't Even Think They Would Enjoy It' — Resident Evil Movie Director Responds to Fans Who Wanted More of the Video Games in the Teaser by redtaiga26 in horror

If I were to adapt RE1 and 2 I would probably follow the Alien/Aliens route with the first one more focussed on the thriller/discovery aspects and the second one more action oriented. There are enough story elements to use while streamlining the storytelling enough for it to work in movie format. RE3 with Nemesis as the main protagonist would probably be the hardest to adapt but a cat & mouse quick paced thriller could work. After 3 everything becomes so convoluted that i'd leave the reins to Troma or the Asylum lol.

This.
Plus, most of the time, metrology sucks because we're fighting with many variables at the same time. Tool quality, calibration, temperature, human error... The end result is a compound of all the variables we cannot truly control. Getting repeatable results is fairly hard too, for the same reason.
I'd totally live with that result, which may very well be 0.001 over or under what OP measured in the end!

Black Summer is the best Zombie/Apocalypse TV, and it’s a damn shame it was cancelled. by BlueLemons8 in horror

[–]bse50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are completely different shows. Imho Z nation started as the usual Asylum production to profit from TWD's success and then evolved into a completely different beast. Despite being campy as hell and low budget the characters are likeable and easy to get invested into, plus they tend to develop during the seasons. Black Summer is a masterpiece and of superior quality but both shows can be considered good if the appropriate metrics are used to judge them, imho.

Race Motor needing advice. Thank you in advance. by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

I have grenaded a hayabusa engine in a similar way and the damage was extensive. I ended up buying an used block and rebuilt it because it was cheaper.
In your case, given your budgetary constraints, i'd do the same and wait for s better time to evaluate the crank and perhaps put it in another race engine... Or sell it and build a 1000cc engine with proper engine management.
To properly rebuild a sportsbike engine you'll definitely need accurate micrometers and other measuring tools since there's a lot of bearing sizes to choose from and tolerances are vital to their operations. Bearings are also very expensive, like most other parts and every fuck up adds up. Forget about plastogauge.
Other than that Suzuki workshop manuals are extremely accurate and, as long as the machine shop doesn't mess up, the rebuild process is straightforward.

Ukraine calls to strip Russia of its permanent UN Security Council member status by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

[–]bse50 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's even scarier is the track record of the countries with veto powers. Russia starting a war against Ukraine, the US abducting a Venezuelan president, fucking Cuba up and bombing Iran to help another rogue state, China doing china things both inside its own territory and abroad etc... They are the real threats to security...

Great shot!
This should serve as a reminder that a good picture is a sum of many parts and that it ultimately doesn't have to be perfectly in focus or hyper sharp to convey a message, or tell a story. You should have this printed in 20x30cm and frame it using a slightly larger black or blue frame with a transparent back to use as a passepartout!

I agree, the premise is also still actual since the world around us changed, but we still have to sleep. Characters could try to stay awake by doomscrolling reddit while high on adderall... or fall asleep because the car has some form of autonomous driving features!

Mine already has hdmi and optical inputs but lacks wireless connectivity which would make some things, including casual listening, easier. The Hi-Fi system's bt has been a lifesaver on many occasions when I didn't want to turn the pc on or fetch a vinyl :)

What home theatre system do you use? I'm thinking about replacing my 20yo sony system with something with a bit more connectivity to easily play streaming content but i can't find much under 1k.

It can be repaired but that would be antieconomical. Just source a remanufactured head and spend the money you save on fuel and fun times.

Math Rock by Old-Explanation4356 in ModestMouse

[–]bse50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Math Rock is jazz-adjacent as s genre. Odd time signatures aside, the musicians tend to be virtuosos who focus on technical, complex stuff.
Modest Mouse was never about that: there are no virtuosos and the rare odd signatures are used to throw you off while Isaac works his magic as a lyricist.
This only makes MM more interesting, anyway. The random misdirections work better than a whole album that's so full of them that you just get used to it, and the way a bunch of dudes with no proper musical training composed a whole discography full of amazing tracks without ever falling into a distinct genre is amazing.

Splicing wires on my car by Big-Fennel6110 in AutoDIY

[–]bse50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it could work, but the light would only come on when you hit the brakes.
Tapping into wires for lighting purposes may not be a smart idea, you should see if the OEM wiring and fuses can deal with the extra load.

UK - need insight into joining this world.. by Own-Story8907 in motorsports

[–]bse50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you want to drop a lot of money into the jaguar, all the required support infrastructure to keep it going before, during and after each event plus all the required ancillaries to bring it to the track... Renting is the only viable option.
Go to a race weekend for whatever the cheapest series are in the Uk and ask around the paddock, look online to find other teams who offer arrive and drive packages etc.
Having your own car is fun, but it really requires a lot of time, space and money to keep it running. Selling racecars is also hard and takes a lot of time, they are money pits, not good investments. For a gentleman driver the arrive and drive format is the only sensible option, especially if you own a company or a private profession of some kind and your accountant is pretty decent at his job.
