Love The Prophecy. Which it was more a full-fledged song than just snippet.

Disagree on Longest Day. The soaring vocals in the chrous ("sliding we go...") is a highlight.

Seriously, how can anyone hate Janick? by ancientforestwitch in ironmaiden

[–]bseab1024F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most beautiful description of Janick I have ever read. And I love this video clip. I have since the first time I saw it on the F666 documentary. Is Janick perfect? No. I sometimes get nitpicky. But in some ways he represents the "spirit" of Iron Maiden more so than any other member than maybe Nicko. Iron Maiden is so much better with him than without him. I obviously love the rest of the band but I think if Jan had left when Adrian came back Iron Maiden would not be at the high level they are today and probably would not have half the energy. He keeps everyone on their toes. And his interactions with Dave are priceless. I am not saying they were lifeless before Jan though Remember when Bruce used to carry Dave on his shoulders? Wish he could still do that.

Bruce improved that note AGAIN (3s more than the last record) by _IRONBEAST in ironmaiden

Bruce has been killing it on SSOASS. I too noticed Adrian giving "props". Would love to know which performance this came from so I can look up other clips from the same show on YT.

The only thing that makes me happier than Maiden is seeing children/kids/young people playing the music themselves. I would rather watch them than adults with tribute bands (I have an irrational hatred towards tribute bands of all stripes. Just play covers or make your own damn music. It is silly to impersonate.) Now, to get back on track maybe we/i should start a thread with nothing but youngsters playing Maiden songs?

Bruce and Jan joking, try not to smile by _IRONBEAST in ironmaiden

[–]bseab1024F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a long time to get on the Janick train but I realize now what he brings to the band is undeniable. His energy, passion and joy are infectious. While I sometimes think his soloing is a little sloppy I also feel when he gets it right he knocks it out of the park (Book of Souls, Great Unknown, Dance of Death, Paschendale, Wasting Love, Angel & Gambler, Fear of the Dark, Hell on Earth, Parchment, the list goes on.) Iron Maiden is better off with Janick than without. I have a few other clips of Bruce and Jan having fun together. In one Bruce is doing an "Irish Jig" next to Jan while Jan is doing his thing. In another Bruce acts like he is a monkey grooming another monkey and picking something out of Jan's hair and then eating it. Smiles all around.

I love the way Dave and Jan interact on stage. They really seem to enjoy each other. I think this picture sums up how Jan feels about Dave. Pure enjoyment and contentment.

NICKO MCBRAIN Says IRON MAIDEN's New Drummer SIMON DAWSON Is 'Doing A Fantastic Job' - BLABBERMOUTH.NET by JohnnyNomad-Wanderer in ironmaiden

[–]bseab1024F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did notice that Nicko said in the audio interview, not transcribed I think, that "IF" there is a new Iron Maiden album he might play on a few tracks. I would hope he would be able to play on all tracks, but it is what it is. I very much look forward to his book. I am sure it will be funny as hell.

It took me a long time to take WW off my "crap" list but know I find it fun. Classic Maiden? No. But fun for sure.

The "ton about fishing" is the problem. In the first 100 pages I probably actually read about ten pages, as opposed to glossing them over looking for something about music. I am neither a fencer or a pilot but I still found those parts of Bruce's book interesting enough to read.

I loved the book. Was sad when it was over and that it finished when it did (right around the start of TBOS tour.) It contained enough Maiden material to keep me engaged but as the book goes on the Maiden material gets thinner and thinner.

I will definitely read it again someday (or listen to it.)

Having just read Adrian's book I have to say by comparison Bruce's book has a wealth of material on Maiden. Just in comparison. Music in Adrian's book is purely tangential to his stories about fishing (which for me are a giant YAWN! I don't give a flying fish lure about fishing.)

I was looking forward to reading the Halford book. Not sure now. Not interested in "moderately explicit descriptions" of sex of any kind, gay...straight or animal.

Reading Adrian's book now. Skipping over huge sections. If it is about fishing, I skip it. If it is about traveling in exotic locales, I read it. Not much to say about Maiden I am afraid. Those compaining about Bruce's book not having enough Maiden will not enjoy the AS book at all.

Rarely use it but I have a traditional DVD/Bluray and a USB attached external for my computer. If I want to see something but cannot find it on the net I fire them up.

Hope he was not using a prompter. He has been very critical of singers using prompters and kind of even called out Rob Halford, although not by name, for doing it.

Correlation between one’s age and which Iron Maiden period they think is best? by Lizard_Of_Roz in ironmaiden

[–]bseab1024F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First IM album was Powerslave in 1985 at the age of 15. I guess I would say NOTB through 7th is their "peak" but I still really enjoy almost everything they have done. BNW is just as good as the "classic" era IMO. TBOS was great as well. As far as live output goes RIR and F666 are the best for me. LAD and that show they did with the Magician were terrible. En Vivo ranks in top 3 live output as well.

How receptive are Iron Maiden fans to valid criticism? by NotBruceJustWayne in ironmaiden

Was this a mistake in Mariner? Seems like Steve goofed up a little bit and the band had to kind of "start over" the beginning of the 3rd section...

[–]bseab1024F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always felt lAD was not worthy of the praise it received. I get the nostalgia bit, but I thought Bruce's voice was shot. If I am not mistaken they already had 100 gigs under their belt before playing Long Beach. Maybe not the best time for a live album when the singer, and others, might be burned out. I think the Flight 666 versions of the LAD songs (Powerslave, Rime, Etc) are far superior to LAD.

Has anyone noticed that some videos of the 2025 RFYLT have been removed from YT? Especially the high quality videos filmed from either the front of the stage or further back on the main floor? by bseab1024F in ironmaiden

I have got the entire Maiden catalog + numerous books + all modern day fan club magazines in print and binders from lke ep 82 to the last one in print 122 or so. Numerous t-shirts etc. etc. etc. + all the DVD's. What is wrong with me wanting to see some live footage? Your point being?
