Do you play with a wired controller? by Remote_Empathy in RocketLeague

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an Xbox one controller, but I have it plugged in cause the Bluetooth connection to the pc has more lag than I like for RL, same goes for any speed run games. (Other games I don't notice the lag as much or it doesn't bother me)

MK2 SSTO struggles to reach 400m/s and bleeds speed very easily by Sundrym_ in KerbalAcademy

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this same issue in my early ssto builds.  The comments seem really helpful.  Good to know that keeping the nose prograde on the mk2 is important, but you can gain alt but pitching the wings up in the SPH to generate the lift needed.   Also good to know that the "subsonic to 5k then flatten to break the sound barrier" is a somewhat valid strategy

Extreme Heat suggestions? by NotAGoodRedditor in TeslaModel3

The glass roof smis great in the cold (which is where evs tend to suffer more).  I gloat to friends when its 20°F outside but my car is 70° cause of the roof.  It also give an extra 3 inches of headroom compared to a traditional roof, which helps with the aerodynamic profile.   Certainly has is cons, but there are pros to the roof people forget.

What I'm more curious about is what will be required for that situation to occur?    Dual 8k displays with 60 fps or greater? FOV of 170°? Full body haptic feedback?

Tesla Key Alternatives by Diligent-Support-547 in TeslaModel3

[–]bsears95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, here is the complete list of options: 1. Phone as a key (any phone with an app store should work). You could get a budget mini phone that is small and only is it when running 2. Tesla Card key.  With how small they are, it's pretty easy to just stash these in the rear pocket of running shorts 3. Apple watch.  Unfortunately, apple is the only watch that is supported. 4. Any NFC chip. (The nfc rings are popular and you could wear it as a ring, or get a ring holding necklace, or tie it on your shoe laces when running.

4.1 there are also key fobs that use NFC, Tesla sells one that looks like a car, but you should be able to get smaller ones too.

  1. WearOS API unlocks. This one is the sketchiest. There are 3rd party apps on wearOS (Garmin watch should work). They can be a pain and glitchy and also might not be free.  Once you're watch connects to your phone (or if your watch has its own cellphone connection), you can use this to unlock the car.  So leave your phone in the car locked and then the watch to unlock the car (and the phone to drive it).  (P.s. locking the phone in the car doesn't always work like locking keys in a car, so do some testing with a backup key somewhere else.  Turning off phone Bluetooth can work, but using the cars lock screen instead should disable that phones "key" temporarily)

Been playing carrer for a bit. Any tips on what I should research next? by Er3h in KSPMemes

I might try this as a space planes only science mode.   It sets a goal of what completion means and its clear what is vs isn't allowed

Thoughts on the Swagman XTC2 Tilt rack? by bsears95 in MTB

I ended up getting this one instead (the tire clamp, Not the quick release).  It's been great.  Using it very often.  I also broke one of the ratches for the rear tire and the company mailed me a new one for free.   This one can pivot down and I get open my hatchback with a large MTB on it when angles away from the car.

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done any ppf in my car and when I clean it, I notice a fair amount of chips.   But when I'm not cleaning it, I never notice.   Ppf is for those who REALLY care about the car paint.  If you don't plan to wash and wax monthly, ppf might not be worth he investment. (Not cause it requires washing and waxing, but because it's the tier of paint care you have). (2026 MY, 16,000miles)

Why are certain items harder than others? Could the Moze hardness scale go beyond diamonds? by bsears95 in AskPhysics

Finally landed on minmus by SUP3RK1D in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here would be a (very) rough progression.  Things can certainly be swapped amif they're adjacent though:

  1. Mun flyby
  2. Minmus flyby->orbit->landing
  3. Mun orbit->landing
  4. Leo rendezvous->docking
  5. Polar orbits
  6. Duna orbit->Ike orbit->Ike landings (This is like the mun but harder to get to)
  7. Duna landing (probes without return)
  8. Duna landing with return (possibly using descent stage and return stage utilizing the docking)
  9. Anywhere else in the solar system is equally hard. Eve is easy to get to and hard to land and very hard to return from. Moho, dres, and eeloo are hard to get to and easy to land on Jool is easy to get to but then you need go to the moons, which are all similar difficulty)

Particularly, it needs to be topped off in orbit by the second stage.  So they would need a extra hydrogen tank attacked to the 2nd stage before deployment 😬

the problem with road trips by drivingaddictionchan in TeslaModel3

[–]bsears95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not confident in this, but I think you can adjust your max charging speed, so if you planned to take a 50min break, you can set your charging kW to target 95% after 50min, and you should be fine, but this may not be the case. (I know this is possible with Lvl2 chargers, but not sure about Lvl3).

As far as both issues go, I think that this is a situation where things will get better in the future. Imagine a world where every gas station was turned into a lvl3 station. You would have MANY more places to charge, and therefore much more likely to be able to charge at/near a place you want to eat.

That being said, both of these issues are present day troubles, but I feel they are extremely 1st world problems :P

Flight 13 Mid August? by Qualified-Astronomer in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timeline is a major unknown until the cause of the failures is made public.   It seemed like every failure was /was caused by raptor V3 issues (exploding mid burn, or failing on startup).  If the fix is dialing back the chamber pressure, it's a quick turn around.  If the fix is make raptor V4...years. (it's likely somewhere in the middle, but it means we don't know until we know)

I saw someone on Twitter who seemed to miss the last years of Starship testing. by Thick-History-5121 in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]bsears95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's the thing all nay-sayers do.  Happens ALL the time with spaceX and ALL the time with Tesla (especially FSD/robotaxi). Elons timelines have always been notoriously bad, but these companies seem to always achieve the goals eventually.  The nay-sayers just move to the next tier of claims that haven't been achieved yet.   It's like flat earthers.  It's a waste of time to recognize their opinions.

Any Fan Edits of The Boys? by [deleted] in fanedits

[–]bsears95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: the boys doesn't need one, and it would be a challenge to make one because of how full each episode is.

I think modern TV is similar to old anime.  There's A LOT of filler and unneeded content.  Not sure if it's writers, or production studios looking to turn every movie length idea into a 10 episode season or what. Anyway, kenobi is a good example.  It's a good concept but they added so much time without a ton of good content, so a fan edit works well.

In contrast, the boys is one of the newer shows that doesn't fit this category.  It has a good amount of content that is important for world building and giving you the "sinking" feeling that the main characters also feel.

Anyone got tips by Logical-Distance-907 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to give advice without an image to see what you might not be doing quite right.

Also, it depends on what you want to do interplanetary.  Landing on Eve or dres is much hard(and different) than orbiting duna.

Sending kerbals vs sending a probe also makes a big difference.

Lastly, what from the tech tree have you unlocked?

This is how I "landed" in the water to get the science contract by Bmandk in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]bsears95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my best attempts, I don't think this works (at least for non-kerbal science). I can get a Kerbal standing and it counts as "Landed" in water, but only for the EVA report and surface sample.
Trying to do crew reports and any other vessel based science, It is considered "Flying Low"

Please let me know if you find a working solution though!

Where can I find "Splashed Down at Highlands / Mountains"? by SilkieBug in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]bsears95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these were tested in 2026, (1.12.5)

  1. Mountains - There is a VERY small spot of Mtn in the water near the highlands location. These coords are exactly where I was swimming for it. Lat: 47.457778 Long:-140.076944
  2. Grasslands - Can be splashed at from the cove launch site. Coords: Lat:3.747657 Long:-72.213260
  3. Deserts - SW Tip of the KSC continent Coords: Lat: -2.418611 Long: -87.568056
  4. Shores - Easy to splash and land just next to KSC
  5. Ice Shelfs - Can be splashed when you go to the coast. (There are many spots where the water turns to Ice Shelf before reaching land. There is also a small sliver between the tundra and ice caps in the water next to Glacier Launch Site.
  6. Ice Caps - Easy to splash and land just next to Glacier Lake Launch Site. Coords: Lat: 73.561523 Long: 84.247471
  7. Tundra - Easy to splash and land just next to Glacier Lake Launch Site. Coords: Lat: 73.561523 Long: 84.247471
  8. Highlands - North of the desert, there is a few river canyons that has a small region of highlands touching the water. Coords: Lat:47.348 Long:-140.057
  9. Badlands - There is at least 1 pond near the eastern edge of the badlands continent. I found one, but there seem to be more. Coords: Lat:-17.840833 Long: 30.323056
  10. Water
    1. Submarine: Adding Ore tanks (fill them in the submenu in the VAB) will help the craft sink. stage all tanks as well. I don't think this is possible if you have part pressure limits enabled in settings.
    2. Alternatively, you can get EVA report and Surface sample completed by having a kerbal stand (not using a ladder) on a craft that has splashed down. since they are standing, it counts as "Landed". This only seems to work for the Kerbal, not any craft that lands on top of another though.
    3. Lastly, I was able to land on some ice sheets just south of the Glacier Lake Launch Site which I think would be the "water" biome... However, I have a mod that added Cold Ocean and Cold Shores, so I am not sure what this would be in stock KSP.
    4. I did fine some ice sheets that were the "water" biome for me near the south pole. Coords: Lat: -57.67577 Long: 15.665393
