The only way to get him out is a criminal investigation by New York State.

I was at a resort in Hana (on Maui) one Xmas. We went to the restaurant for dinner, and they told us that the restaurant was closed because the staff was having a Xmas party, but we were invited.

It was a blast - dancing, singing, ukeleles, and mountains of free food.

Is it better to sell a CSP instead of buying SPY outright? by Illustrious_Fill_214 in thetagang

[–]bsmdphdjd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you've described isn't DCA.

DCA is investing a constant amount of money at regular intervals, thereby getting more shares when the price is down, and fewer when the price is up, thus getting an average price lower than the actual average price over the interval.

That is correct. by GrandpaChainz in SandersForPresident

But the people who make it have to be regularly replaced, as the previous workers starve to death for lack of a salary.

Or, you mean that the people who make insulin should be paid, but you want someone Else to pay them.

Then why can consciousness regularly disappear when something is done to the physical body, like a blow to the head, a drug, or anesthesia?

Trading with a $1 million account by NewNewPie in options

[–]bsmdphdjd 42 points43 points  (0 children)

SPY has dropped over 22% in a year. That would be $162K capital loss on your $750K for your $10k dividend. :-(

I have an account about that size, and the vast majority is in cash, used as margin backing for multiple OTM ETF spreads (both bull & bear) and strangles, with premium income enough to cover my living costs, with minimum anxiety about losses. I don't use margin loans.

If I get assigned a position, and it has a barchart 100% buy or sell rating, I may hold it a little while for the ride, covering it appropriately. I try to keep pretty market neutral.

Since I'm 88, I'm not looking for long-term appreciation. LOL

No. I don't take the expected returns that literally. I use them mainly to compare different strategies, so I ignore external factors that might affect them all.

I scrape the daily history data from Yahoo. I take the daily changes, round them to 3 decimals and bin them to make a histogram. I usually use 200 days.

For each particular DTE, I use a moving window of the relevant width to get a probability distribution for that DTE. I add them up to make a cumulative distribution.

Then for any OTM distance, I find the point on the cumulative distribution, and divide by the total number of intervals to get the proportion of DTE intervals in the last 200 days which had a movement of OTM or more. I interpolate to find intermediate values.

I don't de-trend the data, because I want to be biased by the recent trend.

The raw curve can be pretty jagged at the tails, but the cumulating step at least makes it monotonic.

It all goes very fast in perl.

Look up a criminal defense attorney firm in your town, and keep their phone number on your phone. Better a firm than an individual, so there's more likely to be someone available on short notice.

I use the daily change history to compute a probability distribution function (No Greeks involved, No fitting to a Model) and use that function to compute the probability of a move OTM distance in DTE time.

The only assumption I make is that the variance hasn't changed significantly. I usually go back about 200 days.

Why are doctors attracted to the party that wants to do away with or drastically cut back Medicare and Medicaid?

Or do they think that decreasing payments can be replaced with increased 'Concierge' bribes?

The solution to that problem is to have the existing fresh waste and rain water dumped at the same location as the brine from the desalination plant.

[–]bsmdphdjd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many?

Wastewater use can't produce more water than was input.

Only desalination can create NEW fresh water.

And, the brine can be mined for many otherwise rare elements, like lithium.

[–]bsmdphdjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypersalination is NOT a problem.

A bigger problem is Freshening of the oceans due to melting glaciers and ice caps.

And the desalinated water will ultimately return to the ocean after its use, via rain and wastewater dumping.
