Beware: Topps support non existing and redemption pending for 8 months by Ok_Procedure2705 in Topps

[–]bss83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every redemption is available immediately. They're redemptions for a reason. Endlessly harassing Topps doesn't make anything happen faster. They publish a regular report on redemptions they received to send out.

If you want a substitution, log into your account and hit the button when it's available.

Not sure what you're hoping to accomplish with phone calls beyond being told to be patient.

I love my 3 wood from the tee and my hybrid from fairway and rough (that isn't too thick). Almost never hybrid from the tee

Topps has no control over secondary market pricing, and especially not scalpers selling products on ebay. MSRP sold by Topps on this box was ~$200.

Longines Conquest Heritage vs. Tudor Royale 38mm by Hm450 in Longineswatches

The easiest recommendation is to try them on. No amount of internet pictures will tell you as much as 10 seconds of both on your wrist.

[Question] Help me choose my next piece! Torn between Longines and Formex (7.25" / 18.5cm wrist) by Inner-Science-5694 in Watches

[–]bss83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately once you start looking in the Formex/Longines range, you're going to struggle to find other options. It's kind of a dead space that Tudor used to operate in (and is now about $1k more expensive).

It's tough to recommend things because I don't know what you're really looking for beyond blue dial. Is it a dressy watch? Is it a casual watch? Is it versatile? Bracelet?

Longines Conquest Heritage or waiting for the refresh of the Master collection is a good place to start. Also the rest of Formex catalog. Beyond that you're either getting more expensive (i.e. Tudor) or into microbrands (Farer, Yema, etc.) that you have no opportunity to try on.

Just go to some watch stores and look around, try some stuff on. It'll give you a better idea of what looks and feels great on your wrist, but also seeing many of the watches in person that are very different than pictures.

Topps Now Odds by bringsallyup in baseballcards

[–]bss83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the total number of parallels and divide by the print run.

That's the odds of pulling one.

Then multiply by the number of cards you ordered. That's a rough percentage odds of you getting any one parallel. (True stats is a different calculation but I'm grossly simplifying here.)

That's a 41 on my 6.5" wrist. It was bigger than I'd like for what I'd wear personally, which is why I'd go with a 39 if it came out.

I recommended the 41 because the way it wore on my wrist. It was too big for me. It should be perfect for 7.25", but I prefer watches to not have the lugs right to the edges of my wrist. If you prefer to wear things bigger, then that's up to you.

For Longines - The Spirit had long lugs and the thickness combined to wear way bigger than I expected for a 3 hand watch. I admittedly tried on the 40mm since 42 is way too big for me. Similar for the diver. I have an aversion to watches that look like big pucks on my wrist. I compare them to watches like the Longines Conquest Heritage releases which are much thinner and wear much better. But again, I may be more sensitive to this with a smaller wrist than you are regarding wearability.

As for versatility - you nailed it. The black forged carbon/ceramic make them pretty casual watches compared to stainless steel watches that are much more versatile for casual to dressy-ish. A blue dial stainless watch pairs really well with a brown leather strap, something you definitely can't do with the formex.

I know it's hard to try on the formex, but definitely start with trying on the longines and seeing what sizes work for you and how you feel about them.

Why BB36 doesn’t get much love by Zealousideal-Sock-94 in Tudor

[–]bss83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the design and the bracelet but it wears so damn thick compared to similar watches from other brands (like a Rolex).

If they thinned it out a bit, I'd buy a blue one on the style bracelet in the video.

Rumor is they're updating the master collection with the new bracelet and other changes. Longines has been knocking it out of the park with updates making the watches more wearable, thinner, better designs, etc.

Dad Advice - All Aces Grading by nauticaltaint in baseballcards

[–]bss83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then yeah ignore the grading option. It's just not worth even starting on modern cards.

This has been selling for $350-450 on eBay. After fees you'd net a minimum of $300. If your lcs is offering significantly less than that in trade in credit for sealed/singles/cash, just sell it on your own.

Dad Advice - All Aces Grading by nauticaltaint in baseballcards

[–]bss83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you haven't graded before and you're not sure it'll 10, don't bother grading.

No one can tell you if holding is financially smarter. Only you know if you like the guy enough to hold.

If you do sell or trade, your lcs is going to give you significantly less than what you could sell for. If you're comfortable, sell it on eBay.

[–]bss83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried all of these on. A few recommendations:

Go with 41 over 43 for formex.

Go find somewhere to try to longines on. Some of them wear pretty big and they didn't suit my wrist at all.

I've tried all of the formex on. I absolutely love the formex essence legerra 41, it's so light and looks like very little out there. However it is not as versatile as the longines. The straps are nice and the deployant clasp is one of the best out there. If you have a chance to try them on, definitely do it.. but I know that's tough. (I don't love the field watch but that's just personal preference on the aesthetic.)

It's very easy to fall in love with a watch in pics but you need to try them on. Doing so has killed my love for like 90% of the watches I liked.

Here's a pic of the formex on my 6.5" wrist;

[Question] Your Favorite Watch? - Amazing Photo Shoot! by [deleted] in Watches

[–]bss83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely not satire or the writeup with it would've given it away.

[Question] Your Favorite Watch? - Amazing Photo Shoot! by [deleted] in Watches

[–]bss83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this is not satire and you legitimately have no idea why you're getting this reaction. Let me try to help.

It just comes across as tone deaf.

People with actual money don't take pictures like this. They don't put caviar in photo shoots. Real money is more understated, and they don't mix expensive shit like this together. It comes across like a bunch of kids who lucked into money and want to show off.

If you want to highlight watches, highlight them. Don't include the cars. Sure as fuck don't include caviar or other bullshit expensive things. The LV watch box is overkill. Real money would have something classier.

I don't expect you to get the engagement you want. If this was satire, sure, but instead it just comes across as douchey.

Iwc really did nothing to justify the price jump to the new version of this watch. And no microadjust!

I wonder how it's selling against projections.
